Is it possible MadBum's post-season greatness is a skill?
august fagerstrom
9:14
His skill is just being great always, and constantly having the opportunity to pitch in the postseason

Asdrubal got like four meatballs in that at-bat.
Finally got one.

Cabrera's spray chart would show he should be shifted with 7 guys down the left field line in his next PA

Conor Gillaspie and Jose Reyes being the starting third basemen for the Giants and Mets, respectively, in a Wild Card game in the year 2016 is too good
Dave Cameron

Pretty sure the high fastball thing is the plan to Yo.
august fagerstrom
9:17
I like that HR graphic
Yeah, the approach against Yo couldn't be more obvious

This is just one pitch over and over.

I can't believe he got a piece of that
Dave Cameron

I don't think Bumgarner threw a pitch in the zone that whole at-bat.

Bumgarner vs. Cespedes currently in the lead for "thing i want to write about tomorrow"

That breaking ball was great.

Say you had an extreme groundball pitcher on the mound and a batter that very rarely hit the ball to RF should a team play with 5 infielders and shift your 2 OFs accordingly?

When they had the HR v LHP graphic overlaid, you could see Yoenis' pre-AB swings go directly through the heart of the plot. Anything to that?

The 4th inning is as long as the first 3 innings
august fagerstrom
9:23
Yeah, Pedro talked about this on MLB Network last year. Been meaning to write a post about that actually
He said he'd look at hitter's pre-AB swings and read their planes
That they'd alwas swing where they wanted the ball
Dave Cameron

Got away with another middle-middle fastball.

Bumgarner's command that inning was awful.

9:26
so this is the thing about command I find interesting: Thor's painted the black on lots of pitches, BumBum missed a lot of spots that inning. But Thor's got two walks, MadBum none. I know rediculously SSS, but have we moved away from bb% as a proxy for command?
august fagerstrom
9:26
I'm not sure many people view BB% as a proxy for command
