I'd guess over with internal raises, but they don't really have a lot of work to do to be favorites next year.

Bauer has 80-grade punch-me face. It's Cutler-esque.

Indians need to show a bit of offensive life in the bottom of the 4th right?
Jeff Sullivan
5:49
This is 1mph from Jose Ramirez away from being a 3-2 Indians lead. No need to panic just yet
But I can't help but notice the Indians don't have a hit yet

No travel day tomorrow?
Craig Edwards
5:50
not if they have to finish tonight's game.
Elbo

If this game became a rout and then they had to finish 2 innings tomorrow it would be the worst WS experience ever.
Jeff Sullivan
That was such a bummer of a conclusion

What's going through a pitcher's head when their mechanics suddenly fail them, like what occasionally happens to Arrieta? A feeling of helplessness?
Alfonso
5:52
What stops a team from DLing game 5's starter and replacing him on the WS roster? Always wondered about this.
Jeff Sullivan
5:52
I think probably the opposite. When they know what the problem is I think they all think they can fix it
Craig Edwards
5:52
The Commissioner gets to approve/disallow it, and wouldn't in that situation.
Good Kid Lou
5:53
do you go to Salazar in a close one since he hasn't pitched in a while
Craig Edwards
5:53
I would be fine with that, although if there are innings tomorrow, you could treat it like a start.

Watching the Indians yank starters early (sans Kluber), I feel like baseball in 20 years will have reduced the rule that starters must go 5 innings for a win. Thoughts?
Minty
5:54
What kind of a season would Heyward have to have to opt out?
Jeff Sullivan
5:54
I don't think the rule will adjust. I think starters will just adjust to not really care. Wins will continue to erode as a statistic that anybody cares about
Craig Edwards
5:55
He would only need to get $100 million to make it worthwhile, so if he is at least average with the bat and still great on defense, that should do it at age-29.

How aggressive is Maddon going to the bullpen here? Arrieta hasn't been super sharp, but his pitch count is pretty low.
Jeff Sullivan
5:55
I think he wants Arrieta through six. Don't think he quite trusts Rondon or Strop at the moment

Contreras seems to be yanking the ball back into the zone a lot. That doesn't usually help, does it?
Craig Edwards
5:56
it's not his best skill. a quiet glove is best.

How much are reputation calls a thing?
Jeff Sullivan
5:56
Almost not at all!
Drew
5:56
Anything that sticks out last year to this year why Arrieta has struggled with control so much?
Jeff Sullivan
5:57
His mechanics have just changed. They've worked on it. It hasn't gotten all the way better
His balance and timing are slightly off and so his pitches, in turn, are slightly off. It's had the strongest effect on his slider
Another strikeout for McAllister. Finally threw a breaking ball!

Odds of Arrieta being taken out with a no-hitter? He's at 76 pitches through 4
Jeff Sullivan
5:58
No wayyyyyyyyyy they'd push him just for an unrealistic shot at a no-no
David
5:59
Cespedes just annpunced he's opting out (big surprise!) What does he get? I honestly think he's a bit overrated but I think 5/125 is easy
Craig Edwards
5:59
That's an ARod move right there in the middle of the Series. I think he probably gets 6 years.

What are the odds Heyward will have the kind of season where he'd opt out and the Cubs would be glad he did.
Craig Edwards
6:00
that's a pretty small window.

The weather on it's way to CLE was in CHI this afternoon. It was miserable.
