Man, this game just seems hopeless for the twins all of a sudden.
Jeff Sullivan
7:20
In retrospect, game arguably turned with Green's first-inning strikeouts
Travis Sawchik
7:20
Isn't that something? This isn't to knock Trevor Bauer, who has had a breakout season and has been one of the game's best pitchers in the second half
Brian
7:21
Does Judge produce more batspeed than other players?
Jeff Sullivan
7:21
One would assume, given the linear relationship between bat speed and EV

Crowdsourcing because FG > rest of internet: anyone know an easy way to get shoe polish off your hands?  Just shined my shoes before an important meeting tomorrow, and now my hands are covered in black gunk.
Jeff Sullivan
7:23
Make it a Mentos commercial and cover the rest of your body in the same gunk
but don't be racist about it

Stanton had the fastest bat speed according to StatCast.
Jeff Sullivan
7:24
I don't think Statcast actually measures bat speed
At least not very well

From 18.2% win probability to 26.5% on those two first inning strikeouts.  https://www.fangraphs.com/livescoreboard.aspx?date=2017-10-03

Critical innings by robertson. All set for easier innings for the pen
Travis Sawchik
7:26

There is very little more deflating than a first pitch pop up.

Why would you type this shoe polish question into this chat instead of google.com?

So most sports people used to play are extinct (e.g. gladiator stuff, things we've never even heard of), and most of the rest are clearly dying (e.g. boxing).  Stands to reason that modern sports will eventually die too.  We know how football will die (concussions).  How will baseball eventually die?
Jeff Sullivan
7:27
Elements of it will probably evolve into a related, more action-packed sort of game
That doesn't take 4 hours

Does MLB have to wait for the next CBA to implement any new directives aimed at improving pace of play?
