For what it's worth, Jackson saw four pitches, none of which were in the FS1 strike zone. We've established that it's smaller than the actual called zone, which begs the question, why wouldn't they use the actual zone?

"Actual zone" is somewhat nebulous and depends on the umpire/catcher/pitcher combo.
Easier to just use standard dimensions than tweak it every game.
