It only took me an inning and a half of watching baseball to see a ridiculously low pitch called a strike. Is there any real reason to expect MLB to shrink/raise the zone?

not that likely. It's pretty hard to do league-wide and given the union didn't agree to it, there would have to be a pretty crazy conspiracy. That said, i do think the the lowest part of the zone should be a few inches higher.

i think you hope for more power. He hit 20 homers, but only had 13 doubles last year. Those need to go up, especially in that park.

It's the stock answer, but it's also apt: it's just one day. Bullpens are remarkably fluid. Neris is almost certainly the next-in-line, but Benoit has done it before and managers often value that (too highly)

In terms of catching the Cubs, I don't see the Cards being better on paper for awhile but championships arent won on paper. Yankees should have won 10 straight or so but didn't. Get to the playoffs and take your chances there.
