Org has identical grades on both of their gloves there. Bregman has work at other spots under his belt already. Makes sense to keep as is, imo.

Correa did a pretty good Machado imitation at 3rd in the WBC though.
Craig Edwards
9:28
there was a pretty compelling reason for that though.

Since u guys didn't chat yesterday (boo!), I wanna ask a Yankees question: Gary Sanchez went 0 for 5 and looked to be swinging at any breaking ball out of the zone -- announcers made a point of saying he finished last year 2 for 29 after the league figured this out -- has he shown trouble in the past (minors or whatever) in recognizing the O-Breaking Ball? -- btw, you guys are chatting today (yay!)
Eric A Longenhagen

Yes. Was always a 70 raw, 70 arm catcher with breaking ball recog and receiving issues as a prospect.

Stretch time in Texas. Not exactly the battle of aces and we are in to both teams' bullpens.

Isn't one of the minor bonuses of shifts not having to move guys like Correa as quickly?
Eric A Longenhagen
9:32
Yerp, I'm convinced it's why Tampa and Oakland employ the types of SS's they do throughout the org.
Craig Edwards
9:32
I know people have talked about the shift making it easier to have worse 2B defensively, which might have helped offense at the position.
Paul Sporer

Thanks Pie :)

Thoughts on Brantley? Can he get back to being an MVP type?
Favorite part of Opening Day?
Craig Edwards
9:34
I think 2014 is pretty unrealistic and his 2015 is probably closer to best-case at something close to four WAR.
Paul Sporer
9:34
Just the fact that it's here. I'm SO glad baseball is back.
Eric A Longenhagen

No more spring training traffic in AZ

Bold predictions after the season starts? C'mon Paul!
Craig Edwards
9:35
I like that the games feel really important because there haven't been any games for a long time even though it is just one game in a long season. It tricks you.
Paul Sporer
9:36
Oh ya, they're completely invalid now. 🙄

9:36
What top SP with a bad outing are you least concerned about? Most concerned?
Craig Edwards
9:37
I think both Kulber and Darvish showed enough to think they will be fine. Greinke and Tanaka probably at the other end.
Bert Campaneris
9:38
5 years from now: Nomar Mozara or Gregory Polanco?
Craig Edwards
9:38
that's a long time, but I'll say polanco
Minty

Who the worse manager, Scoscia or Matheny?
Craig Edwards
9:39
It's not even close.
Eric A Longenhagen
9:40
I've heard weird stuff about Scioscia.
Jordan
9:41
Is John gibbons a good manager? I'm not convinced that the clashes he's had in the past were his fault
Eric A Longenhagen
9:41
Not personally weird, just that he maybe visits the back fields and does a little more instructing than a manager typically does.
Paul Sporer
9:42
Truth be told the difference between be good and bad as a mgr isn't that much
Craig Edwards
9:42
I've seen weird stuff from Matheny. Not personally weird, just like maybe he consistently makes poor decisions and mishandles young players.
Sam
9:43
Wait are you actually concerned about Tanaka after one game?
Craig Edwards
9:44
if we are just going off of one game, he's on the spectrum closer to worrying than others. It's not worth overreacting to, but there is a small degree of worry there.
Paul Sporer
9:45
Ya I'm not outright concerned, but if we're ranking them, he's higher on the concern list just because of the known UCL issues
Mike
9:45
T/F, Roberto Perez is the Indians starting catcher by July 1st

What do you think about Yulieski?
Eric A Longenhagen
9:45
I think he's in the pantheon of 'what if' players that we didn't get to see play in MLB at their peak like Josh Gibson and Sadaharu Oh.
Craig Edwards
9:45
a 50/50 split wouldn't be surprising.
Jordan
9:48
I imagine a bad manager would have more negative effect then a good manager
Craig Edwards
9:49
i think the bad stuff is easier to notice than the good, although I'm not sure the good can't be pretty positive, especially handling the bullpen and getting the whole roster playing time.
Have to admit it was a little weird seeing encarnacion put his arm out in a uniform not the Jays.
