What response do you give to people who think it's easy to bunt against the shift?
Meg Rowley
11:49
I invite them to consider the ways in which they are incorrect.
So much of baseball is hard. Baseball is so hard. The things you practice less are even harder.
Jeff Sullivan

I think bunting decently is harder than fans believe, but I also think bunting decently is easier than left-handed hitters tell the press

To me, Wood seems fairly simple to figure out. When he's throwing 92-94, he's good. When he's throwing 89-91, he's bad. And he's been throwing the latter for the majority.

There is nothing more 2018 Dodgers than somehow sneaking into the World Series and then getting swept
AvatarJay Jaffe
11:51
first time I've seen a four-game sweep in Game 1 and that's going back the past 41 World Series
Jeff Sullivan
11:52
I think 2007 was a Game 1 sweep
11:53
Ninth inning time. I cannot promise this will be interesting, but it will be conclusive

Do I get traded this offseason
Jeff Sullivan
11:54
You do not

The Red Sox won 108 games with a catching platoon that totaled -1.7 WAR

second base and third base weren't so hot, either.

Wood / Baez is not the correct discussion.  The correct discussion is Wood / Jansen.  Jansen should have been up and hot.  Wood flips Devers for Nunez, and then Jansen faces Nunez.
Jeff Sullivan
11:55
If Wood is announced, then he has to face at least one batter

Is the Chatwood deal really a comp?  What an outlier and boondoggle!
Jeff Sullivan

The double TJ thing is going to be a major variable, no matter what Olney writes

3.0 bWAR in that 1988 Dodger infield, 2.1 of it from Sax

11:57
It's easy to win 108 when you play Baltimore 19 times.
Meg Rowley
11:57
Helps, but even by BaseRuns they were a 99 win team.
Jeff Sullivan
11:58
There's the Beat LA chant. Yankees are excluded!
Meg Rowley
11:58
Beneath Boston's notice finally.
Jeff Sullivan
11:58
@Nate: Red Sox had baseball's 7th-easiest schedule, according to Baseball Reference. Nothing ridiculous
11:59
Oh, right, Craig Kimbrel is good
Adam
11:59
Kimbrel in a 4 run game?
Jeff Sullivan
11:59
Getting him action
It's working!

the Dodgers had a hell of a time moving on from the Longest Running Infield, and yet their pitching was good neough to keep them competitive for most of the decade https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/LAD/pos.shtml

Where did the total interleague record end up this year? NL was ahead for the first time in years last time I checked.
