How much do you guys attribute the Padres resurgence with one David Cameron?
AvatarDan Szymborski
5:44
I'm sure he's done his part, but it's a team effort
5:45
Hard to attribute things to different people
BunkMcNultys

In my timeline, everything smart that the Padres do is a Dave Cameron decision and every smart thing the Rays is from a leaderboard sort from Jeff Sullivan.  I don't need evidence to support or refute this reality

To add to Dan's point:

I think the days of an individual GM being the "savior" are done, if it ever existed. It's all about the organization. The same its true for many companies, the person at the top matters in terms of setting the culture & the goals but really it's the collective FO effort & the organizational culture that really makes or breaks the player dev/scouting/baseball ops.

I still can't believe the Rockies non-tendered Dahl...was $2.7M really too much? Seems like an almost no-risk high-reward play to keep him around. Could probably have been traded if he was healthy and good for 80 games
Tony Wolfe
5:48
The answer is, yes, for the Rockies, $2.7 million was indeed too much

Very good point by Betts above.. So much goes on behind the scenes from even before a player is signed that influences their expectations and development within an org

Britt Ghiroli is reporting that the Nationals have two additional likely positive tests, bringing their total to four, all players.

Any chance we see Austin Martin in the majors this year?
Tony Wolfe
5:53
There's a small chance, yeah. I think it would require some injury issues Toronto would prefer to avoid, but if they're in the thick of a pennant race I could see them making a move like that

Braves threatening

Indeed, first and second with one out in the top of eight.

Saw this mentioned a few minutes ago, but wow is the statcast boxscore page an insane amount of information and really well formatted. Love it.

Are the Mariners going to trade away Seager and Haniger to go all in their re-build?

5:55
Dan, when the Blue Jays win the WS are you prepared to shower Carson with great adulations and kiss his ring on bended knee?
AvatarDan Szymborski
5:55
Never> I will assume that nefariousness was involved!
Tony Wolfe
5:56
Trading Haniger could make sense if he's performing well but the team wants to get J-Rod and Kelenic started. Seager's contract is going to make dealing him a lot more difficult
5:59
Alvarado strikes out Pache to strand bases loaded and keep the Phillies and Braves tied in the eighth. He missed a bases-clearing XBH earlier in the AB by about three feet.

The Rockies non-tendered Dahl but are allowing Chi Chi Gonzalez to throw high-leverage innings. So, that's dope

At least it seems at first glance that India can play competent 2B!
Tony Wolfe
6:01
India should be a nice defender in at least a couple of different spots. If you believe in his offensive renaissance at the alt-sites/spring training over the last year, he might actually live up to his draft billing

Rockies have always done little non-sensical non-competitive moves. Like not having an AZL team despite having a full complex in Arizona already in place. Fully skipping instructs. etc
