I'm with Dan, it's a terrible and gamebreaking rule. First saw it at WBC 2017 and hated it there too. Now I usually turn games off after 9. What about a coin flip, I think that would be a nice compromise.

Started the discussion on extras.  Just want to point out I actually hate it just as much as Dan.  Remember, technically the rule is only still here for health and safety. I guess stay safe - wear a mask and start on 2nd?  Hopefully, this goes away next year but I don't know.

i would easily rather have ties than extra innings with runner on 2nd. the runner on 2nd doesn't even guarantee a shorter game (although i wouldn't be surprised if it did bear out in the data)

Its what, 8ish% of games that go to extras and 3/4 of those resolve in the 10th and 11th.  Extras are not a problem to be solved

BTW if you go to ESPN's play by play for the Reds-Cards game, they counted a run that scored on a double play that was the third out---the play by play thinks it is 11-7 but the box score is 11-6
