Ross Barnes was the top player in baseball his first 6 years in the league, but hasn’t sniffed the Hall of Fame. What?? That sport was technically baseball!

Caminero is the most junior player in baseball

I can give an honest review of the Denver (Coors or whoever the current sponsor is field) It is a wonderful place to go to a baseball game. Outside ball park is a great atmosphere, Union station while not the best public hub for transit is unique and the remodel was an unmitigated success. If you can tolerate a sidewalk, there are many fun breweries and offerings near the stadium. As much shit as Denver gets for public transit, the baseball stadium is no issue. Sitting in the rock pile in the sun sucks, but if you bought a less than 15 dollar ticket, why are you staying in your seat. There is good food and good people and fun everywhere in this stadium. Team aside the fan experience at Denver is great. Maybe that is why ownership is so complacent.

We did a FanGraphs staff event in Denver (with a meetup, even) and it was great. Love the ballpark, enjoy the city. Deserves a better-run franchise

Brent Rooker on twitter states emphatically that 92 on the black is harder to hit than 97 down the middle. Analysts rush to tell him he's wrong. Who should I believe?
AvatarDan Szymborski
5:14
I don't want to get into that, but I LIKE TO DO CHECKING
5:17
Well, Rooker's hit .150 and slugged .350 against pitches of at least 97 mph thrown in Statcast's "heart" of the plate
5:18
but of pitches 91-93 mph in the "shadow" part of the plate, he's only hit .170 ith a .245 slug!
5:19
the league hits .255 and slugs .396 in the latter scenario
5:20
while the leauge hits .282 and slugs .445 in the 97 mph heart

Is Trout's contract movable without the Halios eating a substantial portion of it?
AvatarJay Jaffe

I certainly don't think so. Wrote about it last week https://blogs.fangraphs.com/mike-trout-is-probably-staying-in-anaheim/

It's embarrassing to not sell out a playoff game. I don't care what time of day it is

How did the Rays score so many runs this year? Didn’t pitchers notice they have no good batters? Their #5 hitter in a playoff game is someone named “Mead”
AvatarDan Szymborski
5:23
Mead has a lot of upside

Check out TB's injured list. And suspended list.

Dan, how much of the blame do you think rests on a bad product and how much on Florida focusing on other entertainment options in their state?

What is the probability that Wander never suits up again for TB? I'm a bit out of the loop on his situation (beyond how abhorring it is in general).
AvatarDavid Laurila
5:27
My guess is that he doesn't. Meanwhile -- this is obviously apples to oranges -- but did Hector Neris get suspended for his slur?

Hard to say. The teams themselves haven't helped
The Marlins and Rays have both been like 25-30 year experiments in negative marketing
