Two former Marquette golfers had solid days -- Tyler Leach, who shot 69 and is alone in 8th place at 7-under while Aidan Lafferty shot 66 to get to 6-under -- in a tie for ninth with Drake Wilcox, who chipped in for eagle on his final hole, and Charlie Delsman, who is 1-under thru six on the course.

Zach Burry is chugging along at 1-under for the day so he is one shot back of Ross Thomson, who plays this afternoon.Huss is in fifth at 6-under and Ott is T-6 with Daniel Mazziotta at 5-under. Slightly tougher pins and less receptive greens. The further we move from last weekend’s rain are probably the reason that we haven’t seen someone go super low.

Ross Thomson is your leader after Day 1 of the 104th Wisconsin State Open. The Badgers assistant coach made 10 birdies in an 8-under 64. He leads Hartland's Cody Guetzke, 16; and Marquette's Max Lyons by one. Mini-tour pro Zach Burry of Appleton birdied his final three holes to shoot 66, the low round in the afternoon wave.
