Hi Abby, we are heading into week number twelve of the football season and the oft-maligned Pat Narduzzi has the team on the cusp of a third trip to the ACC Championship Game. We need a little help to get there, but I think Pat is a good coach for Pitt and I think he takes more flak than he deserves.

It's unfortunate that Pitt is playing as well as it is with the tough stretch they close with, especially when you compare it to Virginia and SMU's schedule. The bounce back that Pat Narduzzi has had is impressive. The punt call wasn't great, but they won the game so at least there's that.

Given the recent success of the Men's soccer program, seeing how 2025 played out was a bit shocking.  Is there cause for alarm, or should this season be viewed as a reset year with Coach Vidovich reloading for next year?
Abby Schnable

I'd be a reload season. They lost a lot of there major players from last season. Yes, they got beat up in the ACC which isn't great. Knowing Vidovich, he's not going to let that be a repeat and he's a great recruiter.

PITT will beat Miami but fail to make the ACC championship.  However they can finish in to the top 15 with a win this weekend and perhaps play in a New Years Eve or Day Bowl Game their best in some time.                                                     PITT BB not looking good, will be 6 and 8 buy January 1st and in last place in the ACC, where they will remain through out conference play.

I don't disagree with you at all. Maybe we have some chaos in the ACC this weekend — my bets are on Virginia Tech beating Virginia if it happens. The Panthers losing to Louisville earlier in the season really cost them. But all you can do now is hope. As for MBB, it's rough. There's a chance some other teams are worse, but I'm not sure I see Pitt being much higher than last.

How the heck is Pitt losing the tiebreakers to SMU and VA? What are the details?
Abby Schnable

It comes down to record of common ACC opponents. SMU and Virginia edge them out there. While Pitt has a win over NC State and UVA lost to the Wolfpack, that game was not an ACC game for the Cavaliers. And it also doesn't help that none of the three teams have played each other.

We are at disadvantage with kicking game and O line. I feel sad for Trey imagine how that must feel for him

Pitt is absolutely at a disadvantage. Sam Carpenter hasn't been great, maybe due to injury, maybe due to fatigue — who knows. Stephen and I talked about this on the podcast, but it would be huge if Butkowski is available on Saturday.

I've been going to the Fitzgerald Field House since Buzz Ridl and Billy Knight were around. Thanks to Pitt volleyball the old barn is going out in a blaze of glory! I was glad to be able to get back into the place and see it rocking! That being said, it's time had come.

It was really fun to see these last two games there. One was a sell out the other wasn't, but you could tell the team and fans alike we're soaking it in. So much history — and good history for the VB team. We asked Fisher and Babcock what their favorite games at the Fitz were. Fisher said the win over Purdue to go to the Final Four in 2021. Babcock said the reverse sweep over Louisville in the Elite Eight in 2023.

Regarding Pitt "artifacts", the Pitt Archives are in huge building in Point Breeze.  You might want to contact them. I visited and saw a lot of photos and programs from the Jock Sutherland era

I've added it to my list to do in the post-season.

Any word on the transfer from Iowa State who been out indefinitely for medical reasons? Will we see him back this year?
Abby Schnable
1:58
No word. We were never told what exactly the medical reason was, but Dishon Jackson does have a history of heart issues. If his heart is the reason, I doubt we'll see him this season. But we'll keep you updated if we hear anything.

Sure the fake punt was bad, but there's no guarantee Junko would've punted much farther as he is the most inconsistent punter I have ever seen. That might have actually gone into the decision which of course Narduzzi could never admit.
Abby Schnable
1:59
I definitely thought the same thing. Junko hasn't been great and it likely would've been a short field scenario anyway. Maybe Narduzzi thought it would at least move the ball a little bit more.
Well guys, thanks so much for the questions! This was probably my most lively live chat and it was a blast. We'll be back the same time next week for another round.
