HI, I have heard that some courses which are not approved for EE students before are added into the CPG list last semaster. Will that list still valid for new coming student in EE program?

Zhang, you'd need to direct this question to the EE Program Coordinator, Christina Burton. You can email her at esegrad@seas.upenn.edu.

Hi Will!

I will be visiting campus in early May. Is there any place I should see in particular? Does the department offer any tours or a recommended list of sites to see?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir

James, you can set up a tour with other master's students here: http://pennemab.weebly.com/emabambassadors.html, and I recommend you contact your program as well to try and set something up with the Program Coordinator and/or faculty you would like to work with. In addition to that, it really depends if you've ever been to Philly before or not. If you haven't, if you have time for a couple of the historical things - liberty bell, Independence hall are definitely up there. As is Reading Terminal Market and Chinatown, as well as Spruce Street Harbor Park and a baseball game at Citizens Bank Park (if you're a baseball fan).

This is a limited list, of course.

I submitted my FAFSA recently, so will I receive something from UPenn on what my potential financial aid will be or will I have to inquire about that myself
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:52
Vraj, Penn Engineering doesn't fund master's students, so you wouldn't receive anything from Penn in this regard.

Where can I find the list/details of on-campus that one can take up while at Penn?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:53
Guest1, you'd want to go to the housing website, here: http://cms.business-services.upenn.edu/residential-services/applicatio...

Are summer courses something that I can potential try and take if I am entering Fall of 2019 as a graduate student?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:54
Vraj, you can only do this if you receive permission from the Program to start early. You'd need to contact the Program Coordinator to discuss this.

Thank you for the thoughtful response! I will utilize that link you provided and I will also visit some of the Philly's best spots.

James, you're welcome! The Independence Beer Garden across from the Liberty Bell in the Historic is also a great people watching spot on a nice evening, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art is one of the best in the world (that opinion might be a tad subjective). We hope you enjoy!

Thank you, Miranda, I would love a tour of Samson East! I will reach out separately.

I am trying to find the cost structure and estimated breakdown of tuition fees and all compulsory fees for the ESE PhD program. I have contacted Christina but she is unsure of this. May I know who else can I look for?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:57
Kong Yao, I'm sorry, but she is the specific person to reach out to about this. I can follow up with her, and I would hope she's going to get back to you about that? This can differ program-to-program, so usually the program is the main resource for this information. I can reach out to her as well for you. Can you email us at gradstudies@seas.upenn.edu with your specific question(s)?

Thanks for the help still, Will! Two questions which may need ISSS but in case you know - 1) as an int'l student, does a research assistant position in a lab qualify as an on-campus job, if so could I procure one at the start of enrollment? I saw the comment on RA/TA needing a semester, but just wanted to confirm the flexibility. 2) Are int'l students allowed to enroll early in the summer at a reduced course load, or would we still have to have full-time load regardless? My questions are pretty specific as I have dealt with immigration in undergrad but there are still ambiguities...

Hi GuestBiotech - a research assistant position can qualify as an on-campus job, but this depends on the job classification - sorry I can't be more specific! You could potentially procure one at the start of your first semester, but it's up to those hiring for the position. I have been told this is rare. To your 2nd question, you'd have to inquire with your program, as students are not allowed to start early unless they are granted permission from the program to change their starting semester.

Hi Will.
Can you please tell me where I can find the potential on-campus jobs available to students?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir

Karan, you'd find this on the on-campus job website. I don't know if they have jobs for the fall posted at this time. It's here: http://www.sfs.upenn.edu/seo/
