Hello again Will, I was wondering since international students are required to register 3 CU per semester, and the program requires 10 CU, so is it compulsory for all international students to complete the studies in 3 semesters?

Ayankas, it is not compulsory. Many will do a semester where they apply for CPT, and take one course. You can read more about that here: https://grad.seas.upenn.edu/curricular-practical-training/ Or they may take a summer course while working on-campus or in a lab and then finish. There are ultimately many different ways to meet the graduate requirements.

Thank you Will. Furthermore, if a student wishes to take more than 10 CU, what are the criteria and restraints for that?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir

Ayankas, this can depend on the specific course, as some may have a pre-requisites and others may only be available to people in a specific program. Unfortunately, I'm not able to give you a more specific answer without knowing a specific course.

Thank you, Will. I guess I can better understand and tackle these once at UPenn.

Ayankas, your Program Coordinator can also assist you with these questions. This is part of their specific duties.

Are there any methods for early arrival and housing at UPenn? Since the on campus housing are available on 24th of August. Also as an international student is it more advisable to arrive early?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir

Ayankas, if you're living on-campus, there are options to arrive a bit early - you'd need to contact the housing department, specifically Miranda Stewart, at mstewar@upenn.edu. We do recommend that international students to try and arrive a bit early - you'll have visa check-in and international student orientation the week before school begins. It can also give you some time to explore School, University City and Philadelphia before school starts and you become busy with classes, labs, etc.

Hi, Will. Thank you so much for your kind reply through email. I have checked your reply. It helped me. Btw, I have actually accepted the offer from another school at this moment. Can I accept the offer from Penn as well? Because  I want to check any possibility to change my status  to Department Chair through emailing

Jason, if you've already accepted an offer from another program and then choose to accept ours, we do ask that you provide us with proof that you've been released from your agreement with the other school.
