Didn't Earl Weaver use openers?
AvatarDan Szymborski

I was fortunate that I got into the sabermetrics world back when you didn't really code.
If I came up today, I'd absolutely need that skillset.

I just had a semester of C++ which I mostly showed up hungover to becuase it was a 9 AM class.
I got a B, but I have no specific memories of actually doing anything in that class, so I'm not sure how that happened.

Any thoughts on getting into plaintiff-side advocacy with the MLBPA? I'd think they'll need to hire a lot more lawyers pretty soon.

I was good at rooting, but bad at coding.

FWIW...if law isn't for everyone (and it isn't, I quit after 2 years)...learn to go into business for yourself. Self-employed/small business. If you can support yourself, your truly do have the ability and, if you grow things right, the time to follow any interest and passion.
