I guess I'd just be generally nervous if I were on the Rangers or Marlins.

I'm digging through some arb estimates right now, I'll try to have one for you next commercial break
Meg Rowley

They seem... very cash strapped.
Oh boy.

D-Backs were threatening to not pick up Marte's option so I can't imagine they're much better
Ben Clemens
8:20
Yeah, I think it is basically a lock that they weren't going to pick it up. Otherwise you don't make that trade
LOVE Tucker going back to not leave Dusty hanging
8:21
Extreme 'junior guy at the office' vibe there

Imagine I'll focus a lot on liking Dusty in next few weeks if this goes against Tampa.

Which would feel worse? Going up 3-0 and losing 4 straight, or going from 3-0 to 3-3 then losing game 7?
Ben Clemens
8:21
This is a great question actually
Because I almost snap-answered, and now I think the other thing
Let's put it to a poll
8:22
Which would feel worse as a fan?

Up 3-0, lose four straight (78.6% | 66 votes)

Down 3-0, rally to 3-3 before losing (21.4% | 18 votes)

My argument: losing four straight is embarrassing but rallying to 3-3 before losing means you go out head held high

Definitely going up 3-0 and losing 4 straight.  Coming back from 3-0 at least gives you sense of accomplishment from not going down punchless.

I voted for tying it and then losing, because I would just be so stressed the whole time
Ohhhhh we're gonna do it we're gonna do it
Then you do the hard part, now it's just a Game 7, people win those all the time

Dusty Baker after Game 2: “I’m not really going to have a message other than, ‘Hey boys, we’ve got to keep swinging it. That’s all you can do. Talk is cheap. We’ve just got to find some holes."
Ben Clemens

and lose??

I'm with Ben. Also I feel like my answer would be different between fan perspective vs player perspective.
Ben Clemens
8:25
Yeah mine is as a fan
Meg Rowley
8:25
I guess there would be something to getting soundly beat in sweep.
Ben Clemens
8:25
I'm not sure how I'd feel as a player
Meg Rowley
8:25
Like, eh, just not our series, they were better.
Ben Clemens
8:26
This series would have felt differnet
Arguably the Astros were up 3-0 in EV wins and down 3-0 in wins
Baseball is so weird though
The better team doesn't win all that often
I mean they win more often than not
8:27
But not THAT much more often than not

But imagine being so close and letting it slowly slip away as it eats at you more and more. The fear you could fail builds to a crescendo. Then you lose that last game and have the whole off season to know you had to win one of four games and couldn’t do it. That you failed in a way few times have failed before. It would be crushing.

It's weird to know that because of the way my fandom of a particular team has faded, I'm not sure I'll ever know how it feels to root for MY TEAM in the World Series.
Ben Clemens
8:27
Honestly I'm not sure that would bother me as a fan
As a player, sure
8:28
As a fan, I can tell myself and feel fine that WWWLLLL is the same as LLWWWLL
Or whatever
Whereas being down 3-0 and giving up hope (which is TOTALLY what I'd do as a fan)
And then you pull me back in?
