My issue is only that there is no real chip to be on their shoulder. There is no one to get revenge on. Most people believe they could very well win the World Series! There is no external motivation there! Even if they perceive it that way, it apparently didn't help them in the regular season, so why is it magically making a difference now? The narrative is that some portion of the Astros are whiny and insufferable, not that they are some great underdog Cinderella story or something

That's your opinion, but I really don't agree w/it. They feel they need to shove it in the faces of the haters, even though they developed the haters themselves. I think you GREATLY overrate how many people believed the Astros could win it this year. Again, your overwhelming desire to cry "NARRATIVE!" leaves you blind to the fact that they are playing w/a chip on their shoulder which is your choice, but I'm not sure what drives your desire here

Interestingly we had the Astros as the second-best team in baseball before the year, but I think we were the high outlet on them

And that's before Verlander was completely ruled out, Yordan, etc.

I'm just so tired of people crying narrative and pretending that zero outside factors matter to these players. It's gotten more tired than those who overly relied on narratives in the first place
