Yes there have been cases of children infected with this virus. However the current medical literature is showing that children do not seem to get severely ill with this illness.

What do we do about the stolen bleach wipes and masks

Due to the shortage of PPE across the country we have implemented protocols for PPE conservation. Because of that we are asking that any possible theft of product be reported to your immediate supervisor. In addition, all PPE provided by EHN must not be removed from the facility for personal use outside of the organization.

Can you please update and/or verify the lifespan of the virus on surfaces and in the air?

We don't yet know exactly how long the virus lasts on surfaces. But it does not seem to remain in the air for very long. For surface cleaning, the regular disinfectant wipes that we use in the hospital are effective at killing this virus. For home cleaning, I would recommend using your regular home disinfectant sprays or wipes.

What is the proximity 6 ft or less
cool 3
Einstein Healthcare Network
10:45
Yes the current guidance from CDC & public health is to try and maintain 6 feet separation as part of "social distancing" when possible. This is how far we believe most respiratory droplets fly

If I have to domestically travel out of state for personal reasons for a period of 10 days and return to Philadelphia, do I have to self-quarantine before I return to work ?
Einstein Healthcare Network
10:47
No.  There is no employee domestic travel quarantine at this time.  While employers cannot prevent employees from travelling for personal reasons, non-essential travel is discouraged.  Please be mindful of developing CDC guidence.  Please be advised that travel may result in quarantine or self-monitoring-- possible for a prolonged period-- should CDC guidelines or Einstein infection control measures change.

What would be a "normal" clinical course for the virus, how long does it last, mainly fever and cough?
cool 3
Einstein Healthcare Network
10:49
For most patients the infection is mild and probably lasts a few days.. Some patients do have more severe illness and can be hospitalized for prolonged periods of time. The vast majority of people do recover from this infection.

Is Einstein going to restock all PPO needed to deal with this virus?
Einstein Healthcare Network
10:49
We implemented conservation protocols due to a national PPE shortage. Our incident command team routinely meets to discuss our current PPE availability and how we effectively distribute our supplies across all EHN facilities. The most important thing for us is to ensure the safety of the employees as well as the safety of the patients.

Are we going to address what Einstein is doing to be proactive in screening patients meeting criteria for COVID19?
cool 5
Einstein Healthcare Network
10:55
Yes we have been actively screening patients coming into our practices and emergency departments for a few weeks now as this outbreak has developed
10:56
As more testing becomes available we will work with our clinical teams to testing

Can wearing rubber gloves serve as protection from handling money, at the stores and public transportation?
Einstein Healthcare Network
10:57
Routinely wearing gloves is discouraged because it actually prevents you from washing your hands and then you risk touching your eyes or face with dirty gloves.

If I have to self quarantine, is the hospital planning to pay me or do I have to use my PTO or sick time
Einstein Healthcare Network
10:58
Employees subject to the travel quarantine have used Sick Time pay for work missed.  Their absences have not counted as an occurence under the Attendance policy.  Additional guidelines will be provided in the coming days regarding other types of potential absences related to COVID-19.

What precautions should we take when we go to the gym? Or just avoid it?
Einstein Healthcare Network
10:59
Don't avoid it - exercise is good for you. But make sure you're wiping equipment before and after use, wash your hands, and avoid others that may be ill

To my understanding, there was a confirmed case of COVID-19 of a dialysis doctor in Elkins Park. Are the patients and staff that the doctor was around going to be tested as well?

We have done contact tracing and contacted all the people who needed to be. They are being monitored and we have been collaborating with the local health department.

Thanks for joining us today. Lots of great questions. Much thanks to Eric Sachinwalla, Eric Giberson and David Stofanak for providing answers. We didn't have time to answer all of your questions, and we know there will be more as the situation evolves. Watch for more chats in the weeks ahead. In the meantime, please keep checking EinsteinConnect - https://einsteinconnect.einstein.edu/coronavirus - for updates. You can also post questions to coronavirusquestions@einstein.edu..
