John, yes, Penn does - it has workshops for students through the Penn Law, as well as other offices, like International Student Services. And yes, all PhD students have mentors and advisors.

Hi Will, I wanted some clarification with regards to the ChBE PhD position’s funding. I am abundantly aware that PhD positions are typically 100% funded in addition to a stipend; however, some literature on Penn’s ChBE website seemed to contradict this (I.e discussion of grants, fellowships, etc for potential PhD students). Is Penn’s ChBE program fully funded for all PhD students?

Zoe, yes, the potential advisors will normally have a definite say, as they are part of the review committee. And you're not automatically considered for a master's if you are rejected.

Shib, as long as you submitted your unofficial scores on the application, you are fine. Our test score matching system doesn't always work correctly, if there is a difference between your name on the application and your name on the exam sheet.

Izzy, it isn't "doled out," you have to apply for the housing. Otherwise, the Office of Off-Campus housing can help you locate apts/houses off campus to live in.

Huan, the CIS PhD program does not have a strict GPA cut-off, because GPAs can vary greatly between programs within schools, schools themselves, and countries.

Rong Song, our CIS MSE program has admitted between 9-12% of applicants for the last few years.
