Hi Will, do you know when advisors will be appointed?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:04
Hi Tony! They are assigned by your program, and this is usually done later this summer. What program will you be joining?
Tony
10:07
I am joining MEAM
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:08
You will want to email Maryeileen Griffith at mebg@seas.upenn.edu.

Ok, thak you!
10:10
A couple more questions: I wanted to take a campus tour this weekend and I have already sent an email but no one has emailed me back. Do you know who I can reach out to? Also is it possible for me to get a Penn ID card to access Penn facilities as of right now?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:11
Tony, I don't believe you can access Penn Facilities right now, as you are not an active Penn Student until the Fall Semester begins. As for not receiving an email about the tours, let me check on that real quick.
10:12
Tony, regarding the tour, can you please send us an email at gradstudies@seas.upenn.edu about this issue. When did you submit the original request?
Yonatan

Hi Will, I am an international student. I requested a SEVIS transfer from my current school but it is taking longer than i expected. Do you know when the deadline is to submit my I-20 request form to University of Pennsylvania?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:15
Yonatan, there is not a specific deadline for submitting the I-20 request form. However, as we know it can take some time to be processed, we recommend it be completed by July 1 if at all possible.
Tony
10:17
I sent in the request earlier this week, either Sunday or Monday and I requested to have the tour on Saturday, June 1st
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:18
ok.
If you send us an email, I can forward it on to the specific master's student we have in charge of the tours. I don't want to post it here, because we want people to utilize the form and not just email her straight off.

In regard to not being able to receive an ID card, I am currently talking to professors about research, can I call a security officer or anyone ahead of time to meet with professors in their office?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:24
Tony, if you are setting up a meeting with a professor, we would recommend having the professor meet you to let you into the building. However, most buildings on campus are not locked during the day, so you shouldn't have any problem.
10:25
You can get the id from the Penn Card center, but your access isn't turned on until the semester starts. Sorry if I was less than clear earlier.

Thanks!

Tony, you're welcome! And I've forwarded your email to our Tour Guide as well. They should be getting back to you shortly.

Hi Will, Are there any events for incoming students prior to department orientation? Like many people, I'll be moving before the semester actually begins and it would be great to meet others.  Thanks!
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir

Hi Guest, the Graduate Student Center hosts events in August, as does the International Students and Scholars Services Office. However, Penn Engineering will not be hosting anything formally until New Student Orientation, which will be on the Monday before classes begin, August 26.

I have a general question. Is it more convenient driving to campus or taking the bus? I am asking because finding parking was a pain in my previous school.
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:35
Yonatan, it depends on where you would be coming from, but most likely you'll find taking the bus and/or Subway to be more convenient.

hello Will, I want to ask is it still possible to transfer to MSE CIS  or MCIT program this year ? My admitted program is system engineering.
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:36
KEY, you'll need to complete at least one semester in the Systems Engineering program with at least a 3.0 GPA to be able to apply to transfer to either of those programs.
10:37
You can find the process listed in the handbook, here: https://grad.seas.upenn.edu/student-handbook/academic-options/#2degree

hi will. Can I know the admission statistics of MSE in EE and SE this year? (2019 fall)
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:38
Hair, good day! I'm sorry, but we don't release the current cycle admissions statistics until after that academic year has begun.

Good day will. I want to know whether coop a semester is allowed or encouraged?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:39
Hair, we don't offer coop semesters. You are able to find an internship, but it would be up to you to work with your program to see if you would receive credit for it or not.
