Hello, I was wondering if early admissions decisions will be awarded during the entire course of today or if the decisions have already been posted?

Hi Will. I had sent my GRE and TOEFL score last year in Jan. Is it possible for admissions to use the same scores to process my application this year or will I need to resend them
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:03
Hi Smita, if the scores are still valid then we can definitely use them.
To which program did you apply?
Susan
10:03
Thank you Will. I applied to Data Science. Do decisions go out only on Jan 15 and Feb 15 or in between as well? Will we receive a notification today if we need to wait until FEb 15? Thanks very much,
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:04
Susan, if you don't receive a decision today but you did qualify for an early decision, then you should receive it on Feb 15.

Hi Will. Do you know if any decision has been made for materials science and engineering PhD?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:04
Hi Chengyang, I don't believe any decisions for MSE PhD have been released at this time.

Hello Will. I'm an applicant to the doctoral program in Chemical Engineering. I wonder if the department have already released all the admission decisions and if I'm still in the pool of applicants for consideration.
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist

Hi Zhengyang Jia. Decisions are still being made. It is still very early in the decision making process. I can tell you with certainty that you will receive a decision.

Hello Alamgir
Andy
10:04
Hi Will! I am an international student, applying to the ESE PHD program for 2020 fall. I have several Q's here. 1. How many students were admitted last year (how many international students) and what was the percent of admission among all that applied to ESE PHD? 2. When will the decisions be released or they have already started?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:06
Hi Andy, we don't release a breakdown of domestic vs international students, but I can tell you we admitted 45 students last year for about 15% admission rate. We have started to release decisions, but the vast majority have not been made yet, as it is still pretty early in the decision making process.

Will the decisions be e-mailed to me or will I have to login my application to check it?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:07
You'll receive an email telling you to log into your account to see the decision.

Hi, when would i know for sure that I won rec my decision today? (Which means I’ll get it by 2/15, is that correct?)
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:07
Guest, at this point, I'd suggest if you haven't receive a decision by 12PM EST, then you'll need to wait until Feb 15. However, please make sure you check your application account and it tells you that you qualified for early decision review.

I have applied for PhD in Chemical Engineering
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:09
Smita, you can send an email to admissions2@seas.upenn.edu to ask them to use the previous scores that were sent in. However, have you checked your application account? It should tell you if the official scores have been received or not. If we already had them in the system, they should have automatically matched to your application for Fall 2020

I have applied for MSE in CGGT. Are max number decisions likely to be released March? Can I expect that i will most likely receive my decision by March 2020? Getting a decision in April or May can make things hectic for me being an international student.

Hi Rhuta, Good day. I do understand about the issues that a later decision can have for an international student, as the majority of our students are international. Unfortunately, I can't give you a specific date, accept it will be one of the dates listed on our website here: https://gradadm.seas.upenn.edu/how-to-apply/

Hello Will, do you have any updates on CIS PhD applications since the last chat?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:11
Hi TCH, I don't have any updates since last week. Sorry.
Susan
10:07
Thanks Will. I applied to two programs and received a letter from one but not the other. When do you expect the last of the letters to be released today?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:12
Hi Susan. If you haven't received a decision on that application at this point, and it was cleared for early decision, then you should receive it on Feb 15.
