They must have a max IP total for him in mind this year, and it can't be very high, even if he stays healthy. I don't think he's anywhere near a callup just for that reason.

Saves/holds NL only league:  YMatsui or ABummer ROS?
Ray Murphy
12:43
Matsui, easy.

Thanks for doing this Ray.  16 Team mixed 2 catcher keeper league.  OBP, HR, DT, RP and SB.  Jansen is our C2.  Do we cut bait if we're able to pick up Dingler?  Is he a keeper prospect, or just another catcher?
Ray Murphy
12:44
There's enough juice in that bat that he could be more than "just a guy", but so hard to say if/when it's going to click for a young catcher. Early signs are positive, of course. Jansen not showing much either... I'd take that shot.

Hi Ray. I'm in a shallow 5x5 NL-only league, and I need Ks. Are there any RP or AAA pitchers I should keep an eye on that would help me in this category in the next month or so? Thank you.
Ray Murphy

Go to Stats/Bullpen Indicators on our top menu. Switch "Stat Group" to Skills, "League" to NL, then sort by K%. Instant shopping list.

How long before ATH shift some of their dead weight out and let some of the young talent come up?  I can't see what Seth Brown (maybe Bleday too?)  adds when players like Kurtz and Thomas would make the A's better immediately.
Ray Murphy
12:47
My problem with the premise is that I wouldn't equate Brown and Bleday. I liked a lot of what we saw from Bleday last year, and he's young enough to be part of the future himself. Brown is eminently replaceable, tho.

Can either D. Harris or E. Duran carve out a contributing role in TEX for deep league Roto formats? (AL only)?  Someone else?
Ray Murphy
12:48
I don't really see it... better chance for Harris just because he could create some quick value via SB if he gets opportunity... but he's probably at least another injury away from a meaningful look, rather than a bench guy.

Ray, in a 16 Team mixed keeper league.  Got Buehler cheap as my 5th starter.  He doesn't seem to be close to what he once was.  A couple promising young pitchers are potentially available on wire.  As long term keepers, do you like any of the following better than Buehler:  C. Mize, Ty Megill, Ben Brown, Sugano, Povich, Warren, Fitts, D Peterson, Harrington, Dav. Festa, Zebby, Birdsong or injury stashes B Bello, Weathers, Javier, Bieber, Soroka, Crawford, K Wright?  if that's too many, please give me 5 you like better.  Thanks a ton
Ray Murphy
12:50
Yeah.... that's a lot of guys. Buehler looked better yesterday, and I think esp with East Coast guys, you need to give them some rope for weather issues as they ramp up... yesterday was pretty raw in Boston (tho, as I said, he looked good). That said, like what I've seen from Mize so far, and we get a look at Festa today. Bello is back very soon. Just a few from your list that catch my eye.

Another Ugh.  Can Milwaukee get some magic out of ACivale?  Once back from IL, will he hurt or help my team ROS?
Ray Murphy
12:51
Unless MIL has some pitching-lab magic fix for him, he's just a guy.

Tempted to pick up Meidroth in 16 team mixed auction with obp and solds 24 man roster 10 pitchers active 8 reserve and 3 minors. Would have to drop one of my bench players - Acuna, Bender, Dollander. Have Adames and India and swanson as 2b/ss/mi Pena at U so no spot now maybe but with Vargas at 3b perhaps another path eventually for meidroth. And it is a keeper league and this dude screams OBP unicorn. What should I do?
Ray Murphy
12:53
It is an interesting/unique profile (see today's Callup Report). Lack of power or speed is the drawback, but your OBP format is where he could provide value. If you're chasing dynasty upside, I'd rather have him than Bender... but I wouldn't drop anyone else you mention for CM.

2-4 hitters in NL who are currently on IL or in minors that you are interested in?  (I am scraping the bottom of the barrel free agents -- no one remotely of interest with 10 player IL -- and need to think outside of the box.)  JLawler?  Thairo Estrada? others?
Ray Murphy
12:54
Thairo's a good stash for sure, no early sign of Tyler Freeman running with that 2B job.

Lets talk about it - Kyren Paris.  Offseason swing changes, elite athlete, former high draft pick; what is your evaluation of him how are you valuing him moving forward in 5x5 mixed roto leagues?
Ray Murphy
12:56
FAAB'd him in one league this past weekend, and revised his projection upward (both PT% and performance) once this week already. He can't stay this hot, but even when Neto comes back, I think he can do enough to stake out a regular lineup spot there. Perhaps the unexpected hot start I'm most interested in right now.

12:57
Among the new closers, Bender, Santana, Jackson, Kahnle, who is most likely to keep the gig for much of the season?
Ray Murphy
12:57
Is Bender even the closer? I'm not even sure we can say that. I think Kahnle is such a great fit at the back of that young DET pen, seems like he has a great chance to hold that gig. Health is the risk there.

Hi Ray! NL 10 team 5x5. I have k Bryant $2 at DH. I have $3 s Murphy on my reserve. Is that a switch I should make? (Hoping for Bryant not to suck seems silly based on past stats). We also have Oscar Gonzales (SD) & A Pagés on the FA wire- both of whom might be better than Bryant and maybe than Murphy 🤔
Ray Murphy
12:58
Pages waking up this week, obv good team context and LA was playing him even before he woke up. Him or Murphy would be my choices here. I think Bryant's cooked.

12:59
Was Vlad a massive overpay if he only puts up his 2023 line this year?
Ray Murphy
12:59
Not my money. :) Whether he's an overpay depends a lot more on what he does in the 2030s than what he does this year.
Ray Murphy

OK, that hour went quickly... didnt quite get through all of the questions, but I think I hit a lot of the common themes. Happy FAABing this weekend, I'll be back here next week!
