A good Friday to you all! Stepping in for Ray this week, who's on vacation, but the queue is brimming (always room for more), so let get on it!

12 team league. Saves + Holds. Concern level with Kerkering?
Brent Hershey
12:03
In a 12 (assuming mixed), it doesn't seem like you have room to wait around for Kerkering to get right — IE, you'll have better options on the wire. Still believe in him long-term, and don't think PHI has lost any confidence in him, but gameplay may mean it's time to move on from him for now. Monitor to add back in, though, if he rebounds.

AL-only. How long do you wait on Brandon Lowe to start hitting? We can only replace players every four weeks and this weekend is the first one of our season. There is no bench to speak of. It is this weekend or the end of May. To date, he is pretty much a total failure.
Brent Hershey
12:06
Like above, context matters here. Without much on the wire in AL-only, I think you're keeping Lowe. Getting dinged a bit by BABIP for sure, but feel like you might be under valuing 3 HR/13 RBI. Plate skills fairly steady; batted ball metrics seem solid. Hear your frustration, but he's a hold for me.

12:10
Great pitch mix article today. Which of these three would you be most likely to trade away - Gallen / Bibee / Ober
Brent Hershey
12:10
Thanks; those Arsenal Report guys do a great job. Link here for subscribers who that haven't seen it. Gallen would be my answer; Ober and Bibee have too much upside.

Would you add Keaschall for Joey Ortiz, Otto Lopez or Jesus Sanchez if you only had 26 transactions left for the season?
Brent Hershey
12:12
Think I would, yes. Sanchez would give me the most pause, as there's still some risk that Keaschall gets sent back IF a couple of these Twins get healthy. But ... love what I've seen so far; could be a spark for MIN.
Beano
12:14
Hi Brent - as always, thanks for these chats! NL 10 team 5x5. I have a $1 Saggese and my plan was to stash him when the Cards sent him down. Instead they sent down Siani.
Should I hold Saggese or waive him for guys with more PT?
(I think he will be awesome later in this year and next...)
Brent Hershey
12:14
Hey Beano ... Think I'd hold Saggese, at least for now. Team seems to like him and get him AB, even if it's diminished a bit. Re-evaluate in a couple weeks.

Good morning, Brent.  Scoresheet AL only league, 35 man protect dynasty...been offered Rutschman straight up for Nick Kurtz.  I have Kirk and Teel as C, Vinnie P as 1B.   I have a youngish team.  Do I take what Adley brings to the table as a C, or do I bank on what Kurtz could potentially bring as a mashing 1B who's counting stats should easily surpass what Adley does?
Brent Hershey
12:17
I'd keep Kurtz. The Adley fade here early in the season, coming off 2H last year, is starting to concern me a bit ... even though his profile in some ways is perfect for Scoresheet. Kurtz's potential as a middle-of-the-order masher is immense.

Hi Brent, Is there any reason to hold on to Nestor Cortes in my Main Event team at this point?
Brent Hershey
12:21
So tough finding SP in Main, says I, who is holding both Manaea and Arrighetti in my own. But the Cortes situation (elbow; flexor strain; same injury as last year) doesn't sound like it's trending very well at all. So ... no, there isn't.

Looking to scavenger some saves in a 12 team mixed 5x5.  Thoughts on Doval or Vest? Hodge?  Anyone else?  Many thanks!
Brent Hershey
12:22
All decent enough targets; I also think Slaten should go into this pile. I'd rank em Slaten / Hodge / Doval / Vest; but any of em could grab the job in the next few weeks.

4x4 AL only keeper league ROS Misner,Waters,Dezenzo Straw.in order ...need steals and BA thank you!
Brent Hershey
12:24
This seems like the right order. Curious about Waters' recent PT uptick especially ... that separates the first duo from the second in an AL-only.

Hi Brent,  good article on the site today on exploiting platoons (which I have been doing for last 2 years).  I have Pavin Smith as my platoon guy this year and am looking for more suggestions (both Jesus Sanchez and Pederson have been duds).  Any RHP mashers to suggest?
Brent Hershey
12:29
Thanks, Ron! Another article plug; subscribers can find it here. Matt Wallner once he comes back, Matt Mervis could be a couple to chase. Agree that Pederson has been a huge dud after excelling at this role last yr.

How about Brandon Young in AL only?  worth a speculative pick? or likely to further ruin my ratios?
Brent Hershey
12:30
In AL-only, yes, worth a spec, though I wish BAL was playing better. Ratio Ruin is always a possibility with rookies, though.

Hi Brent - good Friday to you.  T. Casas and N. Marte recently dropped in my league.  I have a claim on both.  Either of them have a shot to give me some stats to a stagnant offense for the rest of the year?
Brent Hershey
12:32
Yep; both do. I am probably more partial to Marte if I was forced to pick only one, but thankfully you didn't ask me to do that. Think the PED suspension has contributed to folks forgetting just how good of a prospect he was. More well-rounded than Casas; Casas should provide more thump.

Hi Brent - 12 team roto, struggling with Gallen and trying to churn the wire for arms.  I have Roupp and Wesnecki, both PQS 1 in their last outings.  Faith in either ROS?  When does Birdsong come along?
Brent Hershey
12:34
Moreso in Wesneski. There's things I like about Roupp, but  troublesome ball% and ability to consistently get through 5 IP are two decent concerns. Birdsong is a great stash; seems like only a matter of time.

QS league.  Stick with Nola?
Brent Hershey
12:36
Yes, I think so. Frustrating to roster, but has shown ability to get through innings even if he blows one up early. And that offense (support) has to get better.
S. Bartman
12:37
Hi Brent - great info today.  BBHQ sub.  I have Murphy and K. Ruiz in a one catcher, 12 roto league.  I need to jettison one to get some pitching.  Assume Murphy over Ruiz for power but wanted your feedback.
Brent Hershey
12:37
Yes in a 12, I'd take my shot with Murphy and hope he stays healthy. Hunch would be will/would be Ruiz types on the wire if you need it later.

And thanks for the sub! Tons of great stuff on the site today (as I've plugged previously)

Thoughts on Nolan Jones getting his act in order. His .550 OPS is a big drag as he should be a .700 minimum hitter. Is he a Colorado product?
Brent Hershey
12:41
Batted ball metrics say he's a hold - hard-hit % and exit velo stats are elite so far; that tells me he's NOT a Coors product. Does have to make contact, though, and the early-season eye test has not been good. Seemed like this was a slam-dunk trade for CLE; I'm still holding hope he finds his way to regular PT in that OF. But it is hard to roster at the moment for sure.
Drew
12:44
Where are you on Soderstrom ROS? Could he make a run at 40+ bombs? Anything in his skills that say “buy high”?
Brent Hershey
12:44
If Jones' Statcast figs were good, Soderstrom's are even better. Assuming that he's not tripped up by moving around the field to accommodate Kurtz -- yes, this could be a 40-HR bat; and yes, he's a buy-high type if you can pry him away.

K Paris going through a ROUGH stretch after that scorching hot start. Is that all
Brent Hershey
12:45
A timely reminder as we consider opening our FAAB pocketbooks this weekend.

12:47
Vinnie Pasquantino playing hurt? Or is he someone that skills pop in the forecaster more than the box score?
Brent Hershey
12:47
No way of knowing, but his h% (BABIP) is way low right now and bat speed (via Statcast) is fine. I think he'll rebound.

Hi Brent, 5X5 16 team redraft. Do you have an ETA on when Bryce Eldridge (1B SF) might arrive and his chances of sticking with the big club this year?
