You and everyone else with him on their team. Seems just unlucky; and nothing you can do but wait.
Themistocles

NL only, standard rotis. Need a starter. Meyer, Harrison, or Dollander. Thanks!
Brent Hershey
12:34
Would take it in that order with what we know right now.

Keaschall giving me Royce Lewis vibes... explosive debut cut short by injury, now healthy but bad (aside from SB contributions). Any signs of a rebound under the hood or should I be looking for a 2B contingency plan? Clement, Semien, McLain on the wire to name a few. (12-team 5x5 OBP)
Brent Hershey
12:37
In a 12, could see giving McLain a shot -- but you're buying low there, too (IE, might as well just keep LK). Especially frustrating in OBP where you thought he was a ~9% walk guy. Could also just wait it out; as you say there is some roto explosiveness there.

Do you think there is a reasonable chance that Daniel Lynch becomes the closer in KC?  Would you rather have Lynch or Kirby Yates in an AL-only league?
Brent Hershey
12:38
Eh, doubt it on Lynch — but worth following given the options. But I'd say Yates has a better shot

A general question: I have Adell and Rocker. As a hitter and a pitcher respectively, they have both shown power in past seasons (HRs/electric, swing-and-miss stuff) but have struggled with consistency (contact/control and command). At least so far this year, both are showing less "power" (and not only in terms of surface stats) but *are* showing more consistency--they have both, in this young season, become boring but reliable producers.

I have always taken this sort of developmental arc as a good sign, with the sense that they are building or rebuilding a foundation that, once established, will give them a firmer footing from which to re-establish their HR or K-heavy approaches, but this time with better ratios.

My question is: Does your experience and/or statistical knowledge suggest that there's anything to this way of thinking...or is it just a story I've made up that doesn't hold up to how players actually develop? I ask not about these players specifically, but just using them as examples.
Brent Hershey
12:41
Think there's something to it; within limits. For me, this is more applicable to Rocker (not yet established) than Adell (huge breakout last season; think it's more likely that he 'regresses' to power and lotsa Ks). So, take into account where the players are in the dev curve would be my suggestion as you attempt to "use" this theory.

Players like Jhoan Duran, Trey Yesavage and Spencer Strider are due back later this week supposedly. What is your recommendation for those of us that have weekly lineups to set today? Would you insert players of their ilk into your lineup before they are officially activated in hoping in anticipation, or bank more on lesser players who are absolutely certain with their playing time? I realize to a large degree it also depends on who the replacements on the bench are.
Brent Hershey
12:43
Case by case. Yesavage has been announced; so you know he'll be starting for sure; the other 2 are iffy. I've heard nothing on Duran, given that it's an oblique, not counting on that one. Strider maybe, but later int he week if at all. I'd prob not have him in there, esp given his prev velo concerns. See what he looks like. So ... I'd play it 'safe' with those two.

Thoughts on Zack Wheeler's first start?
Brent Hershey
12:45
Was good all things considered. One rough inning really affected things from him. Was great that he recovered off of that. Not surprising that velo was down a bit, still TBD whether that will come all the way back. But ... has the arsenal to pitch at the new velo if he has to IMO.

Dollander with another great outing. Is he good enough to overcome Coors field?
Brent Hershey
12:47
Showed it last year and this one. So, yes, as much as he can
Sam
12:49
What are your expectations for Connor Prielipp? 12 team mixed worthy?
Brent Hershey
12:49
Not in a 12 for me; don't trust the arsenal I saw in start #1. Was super SL heavy, as game went on he left them up and coulda/shoulda been hammered. Will get Ks and have no problem in 15s, but worry some about command long-term. Could get better, but I'm not chasing hard right now.

11 team mixed, dunp Burleson for Gurriel, Lile, Cam Smith, Burger or Rushing?  Thanks again!
Brent Hershey
12:50
Cam yes; no to the rest.

Do you think Payton Tolle will continue to pitch well and find a spot in the rotation?
Brent Hershey
12:50
Yes

Thanks for the chat Brent! 11 team mixed, dump Adames for Keith, Mauricio, or Clement?
Brent Hershey
12:50
Keith yes; not the others

Hi Brent, I’ve spent most of the season speculating on closers and somehow ended up with too many of them. How would you rank them for ROS? Thanks, as always.

Cade Smith, Baker, Fairbanks, Varland
Brent Hershey
12:51
Humblebrag there, Mugghead. :-)

I'd go Smith, Fairbanks, Varland, Baker. For now, prioritize guys who have done it already.

10 team 5x5 QS dynasty league pitch question: rank who you’d want for this season and future Lodolo, Early, Tolle, Harrison and Dolander. Thank you
Brent Hershey
12:53
This: Tolle, Lodolo, Harrison, Dollander, Early
Future: Tolle, Dollander, Harrison, Lodolo, Early

Quite the group, tho

Hi Brent, what are the chances Springer plays 5 of TOR's 7  games this week? Dream on? 50/50?
Brent Hershey
12:53
50/50, sure
Chadwick
12:54
AL only.  Pretty sure I will drop JLopez unless you suggest to hold.  On wire are:  SBurke, PLambert.  Please rank the 3 of them.
Brent Hershey
12:54
Burke, Lambert, Lopez
Chadwick
12:54
AL only, saves/Holds.  Is Jack Perkins worth any fab bid after a nice start?   BHQ skills are seemingly solid.
Brent Hershey
12:54
Yep
fernand gignac
12:55
hi Brent, I need a replacement for several weeks (o’hoppe wrist irritation…). Can you rank your 3 favorites among what is left : vazquez, pages, susac, d’arnaud, bailey, naylor, h-davis? thank you
Brent Hershey
12:55
Vazquez, Naylor, Susac ?? Tough one.
Jackson
12:55
AL only, saves/holds.  I cringe watching the A's bullpen on a nightly basis... But wondering if Jack Perkins deserves a small Fab bid.... BHQ skills seem ok.  Would drop Wolfram or Urena.
Brent Hershey
12:55
Yep

Hi Brent! NL 10 team 5x5 - I grabbed Sanzatela - good numbers - in hopes of getting some saves & Agnos & Vodnick get the call! Do you think Sanzatela can take the gig? And thoughts on E Miller in SF?
Brent Hershey
12:57
Do wonder if Senzy's saves this weekend is a sign of things to come -- not tradition CL, but multi-inning guy to save games. (That might be Perkins, too, FWIW). Skills say he could handle one-inning saves, too, but wonder if new front office in COL will try the multi-thing.

Miller in the mix; another team unlikely to settle on a guy

12 team AL Only 4x4.  Any of these guys worth starting this week:  Matz, Detmers, Cantillo, Young(BAL)
Matz has 2 starts but I don't like his first matchup today against Messick.  BHQ is showing Detmers against McLean (which I don't like) but CBS says Senga (which I would be ok with...I think).  I'm thinking no to Cantillo at Sacramento and Young against the HOU offense.
