Pretty likely he's a trade chip given his readiness (assuming the injury heals fine) and that solid CHC OF.

H2H QS Cat.  I invested a lot in Alcantara, Nola, Ray as my #3-5 SPs and am struggling so far. Cut bait or hold?
Brent Hershey
12:45
As #3-#5s, I think any/all of those are good bets to rebound. Veterans who have shown it before. Sure, they've been inconsistent, but it's a diff convo if you're banking on their ace quality instead. I'd hold.

Time to believe in Heaney or mirage?
Brent Hershey
12:46
Numbers look good; in a good park. Showed glimpses of this last year (K-BB% espec). He's not THIS good, but I think he'll be a win for you where you drafted/acquired him.

H2H QS Core pitching is Gallen, Webb, Lopez, Bubic. Required to have a minimum of 6starts a week.  G. Williams, Glasnow, Bibee, L. Castillo are getable.  Have Ohtani, Painter, E. Perez, Weathers coming later in year.  Go get these gettables or hold until AS break? Which guys should I go get?
Brent Hershey
12:48
Pursue a gettable or two; Gallen for me is not an auto-start each week anymore (though I guess does get a bit of a bump in a QS league). But yes, nice calvary coming. You should have depth.

Colin Rea - stays in rotation or no?
Brent Hershey
12:49
yep at least in the short term. Upcoming schedule (several weeks out) is phenomenal

Besides Skenes & Cruz, any pirate worth owning?
Brent Hershey
12:50
Heaney in the right places. Chandler soon. IKF in deep leagues if/where you need steals. And Bednar on his way back to the CL job.

OBP, H2H 2 UTL spots have Rice, C. Walker, Vinny P.  Kurtz in minors ready to bring up. Should I activate him? Who should I drop?
Brent Hershey
12:52
I'd wait as long as you can. Boy, that's tough. I don't have a clear answer for the drop. Vinnie, I guess.

Hi Brent! Could you rank these prospects on potential impact ROS? What about long term? Festa, Misiorowski, Logan Henderson, Sproat. Any you would jettison in a 16 teamer?
Brent Hershey
12:53
ROS: Festa, Henderson, Sproat, Misi
LT: Festa, Sproat, Misi, Henderson

4x4, AL-only league, 12 teams.  Just traded the red-hot Paul Goldschmidt for the struggling Anthony Santander.  Mistake or good trade?
Brent Hershey
12:53
Probably a good trade. Goldy def over his skis a bit; Santander should rebound.
K's have me Kyren all the time
12:54
Ten Team AL-only keeper league. Sounds like the Angel's skipper is going to stick with it out with Paris, which makes me think I should. If he gets send down he goes on my reserve (unlimited), and could stay there until next year, if he's worth it.
Is he a decent prospect or am I Way Off Base?
Brent Hershey
12:54
Yes, even with slump, he's shown enough to hold on for next year if that happens. Also .... don't follow EVERYTHING Washington says :-)

which Rockie do I keep - Beck or Toglia?

Beck

Ben Brown K'd 5 through 3IP last start, then proceeded to unravel in the 4th--mostly death by a thousand small cuts (HBP, single, single, sac fly, etc.). He looked great innings 1-3--and, indeed, his BPV for the start was 205...but with an xERA of 4.14 (vs. actual ERA of 14.73, but still, having trouble reconciling those numbers). His next start @MIL is rated borderline negative (though I could swear yesterday it was -1.4).

Grateful for any insights into Brown and how to view this data in relation to him. Thanks!
Brent Hershey
12:59
Be careful with BPV and ERA/xERA in these one-game samples. They are more effective with bigger sample and long-term looks. Brown is a classic talented SP with some inconsistencies built in - walks, HR, etc. The trick is him learning how to navigate through a game, especially in terms of what of his pitches are working and what isn't. Sometimes watching those games like this can give you clues to his response. You may have done that already.

Not sure I'd start Brown @ MIL, but if he's your best option, go with it.

Who would you rather have ROS: AJSS, Ben Brown, or Logan Henderson?  Who would you drop?  NL-only 5x. A few bench spots for prospects and injured players, etc., so a pitcher with tough matchups or on a poor streak can be benched for a few weeks. Thanks!
Brent Hershey
1:01
Good question ...  AJSS for me, though we just mentioned. Brown, and I could see that, too, especially if you can play the matchups. Like what I've seen of Henderson, but not sure how secure he is in their 2025 plans.

Of the three relievers, would you give Ryan Walker, Jose Alvarado or Tanner Scott for Rhys Hoskins? If it's Scott, what level of player would you expect back, for example, someone like Tyler Fitzgerald?
Brent Hershey
1:02
Walker, as long as you got something else (would not do any of these straight-up for Hoskins)

Good morning Brent! Thank you so much for the chats, they are helpful in trying to navigate the season.

12 team H2H redraft league starting 1 RP and heavily weighted on saves. Currently I have Clase and Finnegan. Not ready to trust Clase yet (seems like the Guards are not either).

Please rank in order of who you prefer in place of Finnegan (or maybe it's best to keep him) for this week and ROS

Cade Smith, Doval, Emilio Pagan, Fairbanks, Bednar, Vest (nice article today)

Thanks!
Brent Hershey

For replacing Finnegan, only Bednar or Doval. The rest are interesting, but not sure their sketchy roles are an upgrade from Finnegan (who we know, right now, is the guy)

NL 10 team 5x5 - thoughts on 2 underperforming players: Nick Martinez - Cin and L Gurriel- both need to be kept -yes?
Brent Hershey

yes

What are your early thoughts on Nick Lodolo? Less swinging strikes, but improved control. Do you like/trust this version of him?
Brent Hershey

Yep; could be a #1 on many teams

Yes

Hi Brent!  In a 10-team NL-only 4x4 I must drop one of these outfielders: Starling Marte, Randal Grichuk, Jordan Walker.  The CDG has them in that order, with big ($3-$5) gaps between them. HQ is more bullish than other projections on Marte and Grichuk in BA, and Marte in particular has room to bounce back from a lousy 20% H%.  Walker looks like he might just be a 4A player after all.  Who would you drop and why?
