Chatters, welcome! Mucho questions already here; so not may pleasantries; let's roll!

Happy Monday Brent!
As always grateful to have you here helping us.  I'm in a 5x5 QS Dynasty 10 team league.  With Strider coming back who would you drop?
Lodolo, Woo, Pepiot, or Rasmussen

Yes, it's a good problem to have
Brent Hershey
12:01
Would wait at least one start to see if choice gets made for you. Likely Rasmussen if you had to (dynasty format + injury history)
Bob
12:02
What do you expect this season for Kyle Manzardo?
Brent Hershey
12:02
20-25 HRs; we wait too long to get 1B eligibility. Great to see him get off to the hot start.
Broken Bat

Strider comes up, who goes among The following in 4x4 ( no strikeouts) Have Schellenbach, Hunter Brown, Roupp, Hicks, Megill, Duran, Jordan Montgomery, Alvarado,
Brent Hershey
12:03
Assuming this is some sort of keeper/dynasty league ... but Jordan Montgomery is an easy call either way.

Hi Brett, thanks for answering this question. 16 team H2H Points league

Have to fill the last spot (UT) on my weekly roster. Candidates are: Stott, Crow-Armstrong, Kiner-Fafela, Winker, Pham and Yainer Diaz. Normally Diaz would be my choice but his bat is real, real cold at the moment. Wavering between first 3 in list.\ with a small preference for Stott and the IKF.

Thoughts? Advice?
Brent Hershey
12:05
Might go IKF here. Stott has Sale at the very least and Thomson looking to get Sosa into the lineup. Think IKF will get more AB. Love PCA overall, but in a bit of a funk right now

Some years, pitching is king. Other years, it is hitting. What is your best guess for the 2025 season?
Brent Hershey
12:07
Hitting, but kinda a curious way to think about it. Not sure that it's actionable, in other words

Hi Brent, Happy Monday. I’m facing a roster crunch and need to drop one of the following pitchers now that Dollander has been called up. H2H Points League with xtra points for QS/wins.

Soriano, Taj Bradley, Pfaadt, Hollander

Could also drop Swanson, though he’s my only backup for Lindor (who doesn’t miss many games) at SS. Thanks for any thoughts.
Brent Hershey
12:09
Not sure I'd be that excited about Dollander in this format -- rook pitchers just are not a great bet. If Hollander = Dollander, he's the one I'd drop if I have to. Soriano next, probably (not a real good option for W/QS)

Thank you Brent, AL only 4x4 Keeper league. I know its early but,1. Did Javier Baez get healthy, figure it out, or just a lucky streak? 2. if you had to choose one Dezenzo or SMith for RF job in Houston long term?
Brent Hershey
12:10
  1. My bet is still just a small sample streak
  2. Definition of long-term matters. Beyond this year, Smith, no question. 2025 only? Could be Dezenzo

12:13
hi Brent-- can you rank and comment on 2025 and long term value of Craig Yoho, Brady House and Sal Stewart? Thanks as always.
Brent Hershey
12:13
Rank: House, Stewart, Yoho
Comment: House and Stewart are more average regulars than stars at his point. Yoho profile is always tough ... he needs MLB saves to 'work out' at this point and that's pretty far away AND certain things have to break right (opportunity wise)
Talisker
12:14
Thanks for doing these. AL only, standard rotis keeper league. Thoughts on Karen Paris? Could he be a decent source of HR’s/SB’s? Thanks.
Brent Hershey
12:14
The swing change stuff is real. Manager seems to like him. HR/SB combo a good one. Still needs a roster opening, though. Stashable if you have room.

Dynasty, Sal Cap, Daily (Avg, OBP, TB, SBN, HR, RBI, R, K's). Just traded for Paredes ($1) and O'Hearn (4). In this format, what should I expect? Am I set at 3B for the future? I platoon O'Hearn with J. Pederson  and Conforto. Any other strong splits guys I should consider? I have Arraez at 2B and can get D. Moore, Massey, Lux, or Rodgers off FA. Can possible trade for India? What is the best move here.
Brent Hershey
12:17
I don't think of Paredes as a sure-fire long-term 3B - unless HOU signs him to extension. Could happen in HOU or other place, but to me he doesn't scream set/forget guy. Moore could well benefit from Robles injury. India above the rest of those 2B, though.

Confident Wilson Contreras will turn it around?
Brent Hershey
12:17
Yep. Just 12 days in, remember.

12:18
Concerned about C. Walker or is just adjusting to Hou?
Brent Hershey
12:18
See Willson Contreras answer above.

Hi Brent, quick question.I have an opportunity to acquire Acuna. What is the realistic date we can expect him to be back???? Thank you!!!
Brent Hershey
12:20
Checkup today they say ... but without knowing that, I'm still thinking early to mid-May
Dynasty
12:21
Abner Uribe a stud or just another good RP? How committed to playing him is MIL?
Brent Hershey
12:21
Looks like closer material to me ... all depends on opportunity.
Dynasty
12:21
Shane Smith had a decent start. Worth investing or fools gold?
Brent Hershey
12:21
So hard to know with CWS. Interested, but much too early to say.
Dynasty
12:22
E. Perez (Mia), A. Painter (Phi) which has most IP this year? Which would you invest in for the next 3 years? What do you expect of each?
Brent Hershey
12:22
Perez might out-inning him this year, but I'm going Painter long-term. Better team context, wider arsenal.
Porcho Villa
12:24
Needing an OF to replace Robles, would you cut CES or Tork to add Wallner? (5x5 OBP)
Brent Hershey
12:24
Tork. Don't love the cut, but think CES will be better and am a Wallner fan, too.

Hi Brent, I'm fascinating by Eno and DVR's "LODEM" concept (model spelled backwards) - they seem to use this catchphrase to describe performance of a player they like, but who does not pop in the predictive models (e.g. stuff+). I have also noticed what seems like the LODEM tail wagging the stuff+ dog, as when Eno tuned the model in the offseason to take into account the effect of wide arsenal mixes (a trait for pitchers they used to call "LODEM" before the model revision). So, a two-parter for you: 1) What do you make of LODEM? and 2) Do you have any favorite LODEM players so far - especially players who you like, but the BBHQ models might not?
Brent Hershey
12:28
1) Think you have to be open to straying from any model or system you use, especially in a competitive marketplace where we all listen to the same pods, read the same material, etc. Can't be willy-nilly about it—I want to have SOME reason behind going 'against the grain'—but think it's essential.
2) For BHQ specifically, give some weight to mechanical or arsenal changes that our projections may not be encapsulating. So Kyren Paris' swing change. Casey Mize's hot spring and velo bump; that kind of thing. There are lots of others.

Happy Monday, Brent! I'd love to get your opinion on a couple of rookie pitchers.

First up ... Landen Roupp. Are you interested at all?

And secondly .. Bubba Chandler of the Pirates. Just how impactful can he be this year, once he gets the call?

Thanks, as always!
Brent Hershey
12:32
Roupp - a bit. Watched start #1 closely, and needs to throw more strikes for me. Obv can get swing/miss and Ks, but FB command was not there and he'll need it. Can he improve control with that crossfire delivery? TBD. He's the type I would be stashing on my bench an see if there's any improvement over next few starts.

Chandler - might be my favorite rookie stash. While I like Painter more long-term, Chandler likely to get more innings, PIT has had some success with young starters, and he seems ready. It's not Skenes-level, but could click and be profitable this season. All depends on date of recall and how he adjusts, of course.
Bob
12:33
Do you think Jordan Hicks might have developed so that he is able to start for most of the season this year?
