Is medicine at leeds university hard to get into?
AvatarMatthew
4:37
Hi @guest. No, but you should do it as soon as you can.
AvatarMolly
4:37
@Shaiza - short answer, yes! Long answer, I believe the applicant:place ratio is about 10:1
Guest

With the programme will we definitely get a offer from Leeds uni
Guest
4:38
Do we need to fill in all the surveys asap
Guest
4:38
What if u didn’t pick anything for the freshers week? Do we still get to pick for Easter
AvatarMolly
4:38
@Guest do you mean your Reflective Learning Log surveys? If so, yes please! They need doing no later than this Sunday
AvatarMatthew
4:39
Hi @guest. Yes, we'd definitely suggest that you pick something at Easter if you've missed out at Freshers.

Can I still get into uni and do courses like childcare if I failed a gcse subject like science
Shaiza Mehmood

What will happen if we arrive late to an event? Like if there was traffic etc
AvatarHaaroon
4:40
@Guest, there are no guarantees when applying to any university that you will receive an offer. But by being part of Reach for Excellence you are showing a commitment to Leeds, it will give you topics to write about in your personal statement. RfE can increase your chances of getting an offer from Leeds, but is not a definite
AvatarMatthew
4:41
Hi @Shaiza. If you think you're going to be late you should ring the event mobile number at the bottom of the booking confirmation email and let us know.

What is the applicant: place ratio for dentistry
Guest
4:41
What if we did pick something for the freshers week but because we are on the waiting list,  would that be our fault if it's making us miss events in yr12
AvatarMolly
4:41
@Guest - it really depends what it is that you failed and also what you're applying for. If there are specific GCSE requirements (eg Medicine at Leeds requires 6 GCSEs at 6-9 including English and Maths) then these will be clearly stated on the relevant webpage for the course. If there are no GCSE requirements listed then you should be ok if you have failed one, but if you're not sure then best to contact the admissions dept

Oh thank you Haaroon
Guest
4:42
will nursing/midwifery be on the list somepoint
AvatarHaaroon
4:42
@Guest it is roughly 9:1 for getting an offer from Dentistry
Guest
4:42
Can I still do medicine at leeds if I didn’t get the best gcse grades
AvatarMolly
4:42
@Guest as I said above, we will do our best! We usually manage to get at least one session on nursing/midwifery
Guest
4:42
Thank you Molly
Guest
4:43
Will I be able to get into nursing with health & Social
AvatarMatthew
4:43
Hi @guest. Don't worry, we run absolutely loads of sessions during each event block, so there should be plenty of opportunities to meet the minimum number of events required.
Z. B
4:43
How long is this programme?
AvatarMatthew
4:44
Hi @ Z.B. It runs in year 12 and 13.
Guest
4:44
Will there be anyway to catch up on missed sessions? I wasn't able to sign up to Freshers week because I'm off on holiday during the week
AvatarHaaroon
4:44
@Guest, this depends on your GCSE grades. There is the Gateway to Medicine course which might be more suitable for you. Here is further information: https://courses.leeds.ac.uk/i900/gateway-year-to-medicine-mbchb
AvatarMolly
4:44
@Guest it depends on the university, if it's a level 3 then I think you would be fine here as long as you were also doing 2 other L3 quals, but your best bet is to contact admissions if you're not sure whether your subject profile would be accepted
Guest
4:44
Will there be any sessions on neuroscience
AvatarMatthew
4:45
Hi @guest. We only tend to run catch ups of Get Set for Uni and Get Research Ready sessions...
Z. B
4:45
So, how many sessions will i have to attend over the course of two years?
AvatarMolly
4:45
@Guest again, we will do our best! The more interest we have the more likely we will be able to run something
Shaiza Mehmood
4:45
Is RfE helpful for people who are shy and quiet?
AvatarMatthew
4:46
Hi @Z.B. It's 5 in total to graduate.
Guest
4:46
Do i need to complete all the temp surveys before freshers week
AvatarMolly
4:46
@Shaiza I definitely think so - it's designed to stretch you and push you out of your comfort zone, and from personal experience I think there is a noticeable difference in confidence from when our students start the programme to when they graduate from it
Guest
4:46
what events still left that I could do for the freshers week?
A
4:47
Are you going to have any childcare based events
AvatarMolly
4:47
@Guest not many, off the top of my head Discover History and Schools Question Time at the Minster both still have space
