This has been keeping me up at night all week: is Arquimedes Caminero good?
august fagerstrom
1:04
he throws like 300 miles per hour so yeah I'd say that's good
Zorn
1:04
Projections loved Sano and Park but both striking out 50% of the time. What gives?
august fagerstrom
1:04
bet I write about this soon
1:05
Emma Baccellieri is in charge of the newsletter
oops
here's the question I just answered:
The Dude of NY
1:05
Who writes the Fangraphs newsletter?
Matt
1:05
Who is the #1 ceiling?
august fagerstrom
1:05
Clayton Kershaw, who is there already

Cubs have given up 9 walks, best in baseball. Cubs have taken 38 walks, also best. This is why the Cubs are 6-1: They are owning the strike zone. Agree?
august fagerstrom
1:09
Yep. I actually meant to write a Cubs offense walks post in the offseason. Forgot to do that. Almost everyone in their lineup is a 10%+ walk rate threat. No team has posted a collective 10% walk rate since 2010. Think the Cubs could do that

Hey August. Over/under 2 weeks for Reed call up? If over, by how much?
august fagerstrom
1:09
Not with the way Tyler White is hitting
They'd like to keep Reed down past the Super 2 point if they can

What could a team only made of FG writers looks like ? Please set up a lineup and a pitching staff.
august fagerstrom
1:10
are we allowed to bat Dan Farnsworth nine times and use all-time pinch runners?
M

A ton of good pitcher are giving up tons of runs (Fernandez, Cueto, Greinke, Kluber, Carrasco, Corbin, Price, Archer, Stroman, ect) any reason for this or just a small sample?
august fagerstrom
1:11
it's been really cold and everyone has made 1 or 2 starts

Re: your answer to the Thor/Fernandez question...who has the highest ceiling for a pitcher in baseball right now? Is it the obvious answer, i.e. the guy who's already hit that ceiling?
august fagerstrom
1:12
Answered this earlier but without context and I'm getting a lot of questions -- yeah, my #1 ceiling pitcher is the guy who is already there

Which team do you think will dish out the most money this upcoming off season to sign Stephen Strasburg?
august fagerstrom
1:12
the Dodgers?
Would say Yankees but the Harper anticipation is really intriguing. Could probably swing both with how much money is coming off the books but they've been sooo stingy
Kakie Bryan

I'm actually a fan of unusual month names. Like September? Kinda groovy.
august fagerstrom
1:14
this is the go-to choice of "annoying people who just met me thinking I've never heard anyone call me another month"
so I now hate the idea of September as a name
if I were September I'd wake up and punch myself in the face every day
Matt
1:15
Yo, why you hating on people named April?
BakedBean
1:15
April is a name :\
Art Vandelay
1:15
April and May are solid girl names
BakedBean
1:15
April is the leadoff hitter, wtf
Mother Nature
1:15
pretty sure April-May-June is the heart of the order...dunno anyone named July
mtsw
1:15
you should insist on having your name pronounced like the adjective instead of the month.
J6takish
1:15
Fun fact - If you put July, August, September, October and November into an acrostic poem it will spell Jason!
august fagerstrom
1:15
that was fun
