Don't think I'd go that far (MUST) just yet. But are probably plenty of leagues where he's starter-worthy depending on other options. Like him a lot long-term and would not be surprise if he thrives in LA
Mark
12:47
Cut Michael Massey for Rodolfo Castro? Thanks.
Brent Hershey
12:47
Yeah, might do that for the time being given the circumstances. Still believe in Massey's bat but Castro likely better short-term play at least.

Who would you prefer to roster as your UT in a 12 team category redraft:                               Torkelson-Casas-Merrifield-B.Anderson
Brent Hershey
12:49
I'd go with one of the vets in a re-draft, probably Anderson for right now. Seems like good things cooking at the moment for Brewer bats.

Would you sell Jordan Walker in a league where you can’t stash minor leaguers?
Brent Hershey
12:51
Am inclined to say no, though do still have some K concerns. Answer is likely return-dependent.

Brett Rooker was a decent prospect 2 - 3 years ago. Has he figured something out in Oakland? What's upside rest of year?
Brent Hershey
12:55
Am definitely intrigued. Early Statcast data nearly off the charts, no lack of opportunity in OAK. Sounds like he chose that team and had a big spring. Upside might be Gallo-esque from the right side?
Massey-kism

Are there any second basemen in the AL-pipeline?  I've got FAAB, but no place to spend it. Oh, Arroyo is out there, but I'd really rather wait. I almost think I'd better off with a backup 2B instead of Massey in the meantime. Thanks for any thoughts and prayers at this point.
10Tm AL  5x5 (OB and TB)

12:57
It's bleak, yes. I was thrilled with getting Dubón in one league last night. I still have some Massey hope, but the KC situation seems like he may not get a full shot there. Feel your pain.

Heliot Ramos? Worth a roster spot? And your thoughts on Jake Cave & E Sosa this year if you will!
Brent Hershey
12:59
Ramos has fell out of favor for me. More interested in Sosa than Cave — though the Bryce-to-1B talk could put a cap on that if it comes to fruition.

Speaking of hot starts, is Christian Bethancourt for real?
Brent Hershey
1:01
Guess you're referring to the HR, as PT and BA kinda underwhelming. But yes, what we see here is what we get, methinks.
Lou

Thinking about Justin Lawrence as a free agent dart throw for late season saves. Does he have a reasonable chance to assume a part-time role there? Looks like the best skill set.
Brent Hershey
1:02
Hear ya; like the skillset. But just can't quite see COL going with a submariner for saves. Maybe they'll prove me wrong.

Brent, thanks for doing this.  Love these chats.  In a H2H points league, is it finally Patrick Wisdom time?  He's been big power with lots of swing and miss for years, but the underlying metrics to date look like he's improved the discipline.
Brent Hershey
1:05
The sw/m was starting from such depths that "improved" is kinda misleading? Technically yes; and he has some utility, though it seems would still be limited in points leagues. But age and profile doesn't have me ready to go-all in.

Love your stuff -- thanks for everything.  Might have a roster crunch in 4x4 AL-Only when M. Garver and/or Y. Moncada come back.  Which two to drop of:  C. Bethancourt, C. Julks, J. Burger, Josh Smith, B. Rooker.  (I've also got Duvall and R. Lewis hopefully back in June/July)
Brent Hershey
1:08
Strictly numbers, probably dropping Smith and Julks. But question will be can Moncada and Burger co-exist in CHW lineup? Even though Burger could be a monster, they could well send him down when Yoán returns.

Has Victor Robles earned any fantasy consideration? Are his hitting skills worthy of owning in a deep 16 team keeper league?
Brent Hershey
1:11
Yes, I think so (consideration), just in case those big plate discipline skills continue. If he's getting on base, I think his speed plus job security (via elite D) can bring value to fantasy teams. I realize the batted ball data hasn't changed and is poor ... but there's still some value here. Just 26 years old.
Brent Hershey

Trying to get through as many of these as I can ...

Hi Brent. Two scuffling players I'd like your advice on in a 12-team 5X5 OBP H2H league. Christian Walker is off to another slow start and his contact metrics (48 xPX, 82 HctX) say he mostly deserves it. Guys like Josh Lowe, Spencer Steer, and Harold Ramirez are available replacements. Jose Berrios has a 7.98 ERA and a 5.12 Statcast xERA. He's giving up a ton of hard contact 92.4% avg EV, but other metrics (175 BPV, 2.78 xFIP, 3.13 SIERA, 23 K-BB%) look great. Guys like Wade Miley and Brayan Bello are available. Exercise excruciating patience, or go with hotter hands?
Brent Hershey
1:14
Would keep Walker, possibly try Bello over Berríos (and yes I've got an eye on that early Patriots game).

Hi Brent, I'm appreciative (and relieved!) that your chats are back. Two questions in a H2H points league: 1) Would you drop Megill or Garrett once Gonsolin is off of IL? 2) How are you feeling about Drury at this point? Seems like he may be in a platoon and I'm considering dropping him in favor of Paredes, who is on my roster as well. Thanks!
Brent Hershey
1:15
1) Depends how Megill or Garrett is pitching by then. Can't say right now; but never been a huge Gonsolin believer.
2) Prefer Drury to Paredes, but it's close.

Is Duran the guy in Minnesota now? He's got 4 out of the 5 saves..
Brent Hershey
1:16
Too early to tell. Could just be high-leverage coincidence.

Hi! 10-tm H2H cat league suffering from Ray, and now Springs injuries . Any value in Braxton Garrett, Domingo German, ERod, Falter, Strahm or Soroka (not far from return)?
Brent Hershey
1:16
Garrett and German are your best bets
Lou

It's the end of the season in Pittsburgh. Bednar has been dealt. Does Colin Holderman have the goods to close?
Brent Hershey
1:18
Asked a similar question of a scout recently who loosely opined "yes." Tough to extrapolate, but could be worth a shot
Jeff
1:19
Two questions: I am streaming 3b at this point in a Points h2h 12 team. (Turner, Jung and Baty). Expectations for Baty or another under the radar option?
Pitching holds H2HP - Who to keep and who to throw back for another deeper option? (Grayson, Clevinger, Mahle, Mitch Keller, Gore)..Under radar option?
Brent Hershey
1:19
Think you're fine with those 3 3B options. Would prioritize keeping Grayson, Mahle and M Keller
Rob

Does Forrest Whitley have any value this year with the Spring he has had? 16 team dynasty team.
Brent Hershey
1:20
Highly doubt it.

How would you order Soroka, Mitch Keller and Taj?
Brent Hershey
1:20
Going to answer this season only: Keller, Taj, Soroka
