I haven't seen the training staff take too much heat, but if they are, I'd agree that it's unfair. Taillon takes as good care of his body as anyone in that clubhouse. He told me the other day that while he's frustrated, he can rest easy knowing he did everything he could to prevent this. Dickerson is a fitness nut too and he takes great care of himself. Pitching machines, bad slides, viruses, outfield collisions -- can't prevent everything.

I asked 4 weeks ago if Kang was rusty or had lost it. Any change in your outlook? He still looks bad.

I'd hate to think that someone who's played pro ball in two countries for as long as he has has lost it, but it's possible. He doesn't have it right now, we'll put it that way, and I think we might be getting beyond rust (but a two-year layoff is a long time).

Hayes, at some point. I don't think we're at the point where they look to externally upgrade yet with two options in-house.

I'm not even talking Keuchel or Kimbrel, but there isn't much chance of the Pirates dipping their toes in the water on the likes of James Shields or other available vets, right?

I asked Huntington Sunday about rotation depth and he said they plan on going with Kingham and Brault, so right now it seems as though they probably won't, but never rule anything out.

They need two shortstops on the roster that aren't Kang, so I don't see it happening any time soon with Reyes in the minors right now.

I honestly can't remember now but I think the issue was that he was driving with a cone and that was troublesome. Nubyjas can eat the ice cream as long as he isn't doing that.

he'll have more hiccups than he has had so far, because he's a reliever, but no reason to think he won't keep this up.

Previously it depended on their spot in the standings. Now I think it depends on his health, and we don't know enough about that yet.
