They are 65-3 when leading after seven innings, 65-2 when leading after eight, which tells me that most of the time they won the games they were supposed to win. They won four games while trailing after eight, five while trailing after seven. So a few, but not many. Going 2-11 against the Diamondbacks and Braves hurt, as did the 10-16 record in June and 10-17 record in August.

Do you see a Pirates contender window appearing anytime soon again? What kind of activity will front office be involved in this off season, any notable areas needed for improvement? I’d say more bats.

More bats, more power, better defense and a shortstop (if they don't want Newman to start opening day). This pitching staff makes anything possible, but they need more consistency.

With Polanco expected to be out to start the season does NHuntington and company have the intestinal fortitude to bring back #22. He should have been a pirate for life and they took a different road. They now could have an opportunity to  correct course. Will they do it?? As a fan I sure hope so.

I don't think so, because what happens when Polanco is ready May 14? They won't want to deal with platooning the face of the franchise or saying another goodbye after trading him once.

Harder and harder to do in this day and age, but ever is a long time, so I'll say yes.
