It's truer to say I'm very adverse to paying for elite pitching when I can take a comparably talented hitter instead
The hitter, on average, will perform at a high level for much longer than the pitcher

Is Max Muncy closer to prime Joey Bats or prime Mark Trumbo, in your very educated opinion?
Brad Johnson
3:31
These aren't the sharpest comps in my opinion, but he's kind of Bautista-like with Trumbo's strikeout rate or Trumbo-like with Bautista's walk rate

Are you, like me, concerned about taking on a high-priced SP contract before draft day, given how often starters get injured? Would you rather have the spending flexibility on draft day?
Brad Johnson
3:31
Yes. I'm always careful about this. It's not a must-avoid situation though
3:32
For example, in the Screw Cancer ottoneu league, I'm trying to add a ~$50 quality SP because that's what my team needs as the final piece, I have payroll room to add it, and this is my best chance to get it without giving up more than complementary pieces

Do you think I'll get traded and if so do you think Christian Walker or Kevin Cron will be the main beneficiary?
Brad Johnson
3:33
I do think he'll be traded. I don't think we can guess the beneficiary yet
Walker and Cron will likely compete with 2 or 3 other guys

How big a hit did McNeil take with the Cano signing?  How big a plus did N Wiliams get with the Segura signing?
Brad Johnson
3:34
I assume that's Nick Williams and I'm not forgetting somebody...
3:35
I don't see how this really affect him. Hoskins was moving back to 1B with or without Santana on the roster. Williams is now in a battle with Herrera, Quinn, and Altherr for what will likely be 2 spots. Even if they don't land Bryce Harper, they'll either sign a different OFer or trade for one.
I'd bet on Nick Williams being in a different uniform by Opening Day
3:36
As for McNeil... let's see how it plays out
I would not be shocked to see Cano at 1B, McNeil at 2B, and Alonso/Smith withering on the vine.
That's a peak LOLMets play
3:37
Pretty decent chance he simply spots Cano and Frazier at 2B and 3B until the inevitable injury.
Or gets traded.

Happ or Holland for 2019?
Brad Johnson
3:37
I'll take Happ. Holland should be more easily accessible on waivers in 12-team mixed formats

Will Charlie Morton fly under the radar as much in Fantasy as he seems to be in free agency?
Brad Johnson
3:38
Possibly. Even in redraft settings, the pernicious retirement rumors seem to unfairly halve his value.
While I'd like to cash out my shares, I got 'em for nothing and he's still providing near-ace value
So I'm not too sad about it

How much money do you normally like bringing into ottoneu drafts after the cut down? How many roster spots?
Brad Johnson
3:39
I bring about $1.5 per open roster spot. Usually drafting 10 to 22 players.
TJ Maxx Muncy
3:39
Can Muncy duplicate last year?  In other words is Muncy (rd 23) worth a keep in a 12 HtH where we keep five at -2 rounds, but can only keep one in the first 5 rounds?  My other keepers are Judge (5), Nola (9), Correa (17), Vladito (23).  My other options are Ohtani (8), Mallex Smith (18), Vazquez (21), or Nimmo (23).  I'm worried that the Dodgers think he's just a platoon guy.
Brad Johnson
3:40
Unless there's a keeper cap (you only mention the first 5 rounds), he's a big value at that price
Sure, there's a chance it doesn't work out, but it's much more likely he provides rnd 10 or better value.

What other moves do you see the Texas Rangers making this offseason?
Brad Johnson
3:41
I take it you're a fan of theirs?
Unfortunately, Texas is going to be playing in the leftovers pool. As we haven't seen free agency get moving yet, it's far soon to prognosticate what will fall to the Rangers

Hey Brad, remind us again how to be considered for DTBNL? Thanks

It's a patron-only league so you have to be a patron. Then all you have to do is go to the sign up post and follow the link. Message me if you have any questions or concerns.
If you really don't want to be a patron, co-owners are not required to be patrons. So I could try to set you up with one of the other owners. But it's more fun to be the primary, no?

Do you take pitching when everyone else does, or do you go for hitting during the pitching run happens?
