He was mostly a low-leverage guy in the regular season. They went to Tonkin to relieve Elder when Game 3 was still with reach. I'm a big Jiménez fan and think he gets three years and around $30MM to be a high-leverage arm somewhere else
Rick
3:01
Do you think they pick up Yates' option? Even at his best this year, his control was never there.
Anthony Franco
3:01
Could go either way. It's cheap enough that I'd bring him back but I wouldn't be shocked if they declined it because of all the walks
AA
3:02
What to do with Soroka? He seems like a good dude and a great example of resilience, but he hasn't show enought to be tendered. Thoughts?
Anthony Franco
3:03
Yeah this is basically where I'm at. I'd non-tender him at this point. The way his career has gone is really unfortunate and I hope he can figure it out, but it's probably time for the team to move on
3:04
If he's open to a minor league deal after a non-tender, bringing him back is fine. But he could probably get a rotation look from the A's or someone like that
feeling a draft
3:05
The Braves have done reasonably well overall in their drafting, but haven't the results in the top 2 rounds been   disappointing ?
Anthony Franco
3:07
Yeah that's fair. Langeliers and Cusick were key pieces in the Olson trade, but none of their past few first-rounders have established themselves as good MLB players to this point
3:08
They've done an excellent job in the middle rounds, so "reasonably well overall" is an understatement. They've gotten there in a weird way, though
Ronald Acuna Jr MVP or bust
3:08
who is mvp Betts or Ronald?
Anthony Franco
3:09
It's Acuna for me (not just because this is a Braves chat haha) but I think there are reasonable arguments for any of the top four really

Isn’t it too soon to evaluate the last few drafts?
Anthony Franco
3:11
To be clear, I wasn't commenting on 2022-23. Agree it's too early on those. Shuster and Cusick were college arms, fair to expect more from them than we've so far
Maddox the sound guy

With starters AJSS, Waldrep, possibly schelenbach(sp) possibly able to help the team later in the year along with Ian Anderson coming back. Starting the year you have Soroka, Allard, Jonny chrinos, Winans, Vines, Shuster and Dodd (and that is just to name a few). If they keep Morton—wouldn’t the whole pitching focus be on relievers? The team ‘should’ have Iggy, Minter. Matzek, Ynoa, Anderson, Lee, and then 2 big arms would be helpful and needed. They don’t have enough young pen arms that can be sent up and down. This seems like the real issue as far as pitching for the Braves. Is that true?
Anthony Franco
3:13
Soroka, Allard and Chirinos could all get non-tendered. No one in the Winans, Vines, Shuster, Dodd group has done enough that I'd give them a season-opening rotation spot on a team that expects to win its division

We had an amazing season but a horrible 4 games vs Philly can't over react. Need two starters. Any shot for Nola? I would take a flyer on Beiber.
Anthony Franco
3:14
Nola's in the Montgomery tier that I imagine will be too pricey. Bieber's a viable trade target
3:15
Ideally you'd probably want someone controllable past this season, but that doesn't mean they can't jump in on Bieber as one of multiple rotation adds

Any info on Ian Anderson?  Never see him mentioned anywhere.
Anthony Franco
3:17
Nothing to suggest the Tommy John recovery isn't going as planned. Not uncommon to not hear anything on those guys within the first six months or so. All-Star Break seems a reasonable target
3:18
Alright I have to get going unfortunately. Have some errands to run before jumping back on the site later tonight
