In your vast analysis of game tape, is UVA legit? I mean, their head coach is named "Bronco" so they must be tough, right?
Brian Batko
2:36
I don't get paid enough to work long enough hours to do a vast analysis of UVA film. But I do know I've seen a lot of their QB Bryce Perkins scrambling around, throwing the ball on the run, and making defenses look silly. They play football, so yeah, they must be tough.

Given the news that Pitt will open against an FBS Team next season, how long do you think it will take the Panthers to score a point in the second half of a game?
Brian Batko
2:38
Probably not as long as this year, but you never know.

2:39
why does pitt never throw to the tight end?
Brian Batko
2:39
Maybe they haven't tight ends worth throwing to

We must give KUDOS to Shawn Watson with his offensive game plan last week where they gained over 400 yards running the ball.  What do you think about the progress with the offense?
Brian Batko
2:41
Hey, when it's doing that, it's working. Alex Bookser was saying yesterday that just because teams load the box to stop Qadree Ollison and Darrin Hall between the tackles doesn't mean Pitt has to throw the ball as a result. He said those jet sweeps that get the defense moving laterally can be just as explosive a way to counter a loaded front. Not too long ago, Watson was public enemy No. 1 for Pitt fans, and that uproar seems to have quieted down a bit.

Sorry for the sudden change to Pitt basketball, but if there was a scrimmage against Dayton the other day..... theoretically, how did Ellison look?
Brian Batko
2:42
Sorry James, I don't have anything for you in terms of a detailed player report or stats. While some college basketball teams eschew the idea of a "secret" scrimmage, Pitt and Dayton agreed pregame to not publicize theirs, so we're in the dark like the stone ages.

Does a bowl game count as one of the 4 games a player can play and still get a redshirt?
Brian Batko
2:43
The bowl game is not exempt from the rule. If the bowl game is the fifth game you play in, you're a sophomore next year.

With injuries on the D-Line, and 4 games left to play, may John Morgan (DeMatha '18) be in line for some game reps?
Walt Harris
2:44
What other young freshman who we haven't seen yet should we keep our eyes open for?
Brian Batko
2:45
The injury bug has hit Pitt at D-tackle, rather than DE, so I'm not sure who John Morgan would plug in for. Rashad Weaver is playing well, Dewayne Hendrix and Patrick Jones have had flashes, James Folston is a senior. Pat Narduzzi said today that Thomas Jefferson's Devin Danielson is ready to go at DT, if needed, and you could see him at UVA.

Also you have to give credit where credit is due, our defense did come up with some pretty big stops at the end of the 1st half and in  the 4th quarter!
Brian Batko
2:45
Good job by you, Pitt defense.

pitt has a chance to go to the ACC title game if they win out, I wouldn’t be surprised if they win out or lose them all, what do you think?
Brian Batko
2:47
I'd be surprised if they win out, and I'd be surprised if they lose out, but I don't think any of the remaining games are unwinnable and I don't think any of them are cakewalks. If that makes sense. I haven't seen enough yet to make me think that Pitt is capable of stringing together four, really what would be five, consecutive all-around performances.

2:48
How many WR's and DB's does Pitt graduate this year?
Brian Batko
2:49
Only two each, and that's counting wideout Kellen McAlone, who was a walk-on until just before the season started. And here's a little nugget for you on that front: Narduzzi also said on his show last night that he "promises" Maurice Ffrench will be seen on defense again someday. Why? I can't answer that. But he said it.

2:50
Who would you say is Pitt football's top recruit target right now?
Brian Batko
2:51
Reeling in MJ Devonshire from Aliquippa would be nice, both for what he can do on the field and for perception and for keeping a foot in the door at that powerhouse. His teammate Will Gipson is firmly on the radar now, though he's currently committed to Ball State. It's also worth noting how crucial it is to regain all the guys already committed. That's just as much a grind in college football recruiting these days as going out and landing new ones.
Q
2:52
Can Maurice play boundary safety!? Because that would be ideal. Seems strange though considering how good he's been on offense.
Brian Batko
2:53
Well, he was always a cornerback when he was playing two positions. But yeah, I don't understand why you'd mess with that. Unless it'd be a gadget type deal, and we do know Narduzzi likes to try some odd things at times.

2:53
What is the status on ollison as he seemed to have pulled his hammy last week?
Brian Batko
2:54
He totally brushed it off after the game, but that's a trickle-down effect from the head coach's stance on injuries. I'm sure he got some treatment on it early this week to try to get ready on five days rest, but I'd be surprised if he's really 100 percent. Then again, who is this time of year, right? Period.
Walt Frank
2:54
FYI...Penn State would smoke Pitt today, tomorrow and next year. I can't believe Pitt wants to continue the series..Are they nuts?.
Brian Batko
2:54
Thanks, Walt. I'll ask.
Jay
2:55
Ok I will email you the name of the restaurant if they go there
Brian Batko
2:55
Sounds great, Jay. Wouldn't want word getting out about a hidden gem. Is it called V'Lique's Italiano, by chance?

2:55
Is Ffrench good to go for Friday, after hopping off the field after the game winner last week?
Brian Batko
2:56
Wow, more injury questions. Yes, Ffrench said after the game it was just a cramp, and he looked fine in practice Tuesday.

Do you see Kessman as the guy on the floor who can only hit 3's, but has no mid-range game? Or is it the case of a young kicker with consistency issues.
Brian Batko
2:58
Alex Kessman is a big golfer, so maybe he's more like a dude who can drive the ball a country mile but struggles with his short game. Really though, I think he just is what he is at this point: Strong leg, a weapon for an offense from long range, but an inaccurate kicker.

Will Kenny Pickett win more super bowls than I have?
