It's not a Russ problem, if he had even a decent OL and WRs he's fine but not using Fields was just stupid.  The highest paid defense was smacked around.  Tomlin isn't getting fired so Khan or AR2 or both need to step in and tell Tomlin stop interferring with the OC and the gameplan.  Hire a legit DC.  Hire an analytics department and USE them, Tomlin sucks so bad at when to go for it or punt.  If Tomlin doesn't then he goes but he better evolve or we are just stuck living in 2010.

I appreciate your perspective on that, TX. Maybe I'm wrong about Russ. But why settle for "fine"? Why settle for someone who needs so much else to go right to be "fine"? As I've said repeatedly, I can still squint and see a guy in Fields, if the light goes on, can actually elevate the pieces around him rather than needed everything to be great. That's my case for Fields. Doesn't mean I'm right or will be right or that he'll even return next season.

Hi Brian, Steelers success was totally reliant on QB play.  Tomlin made the mistake of replacing Fields with Wilson, instead of developing an Arthur Smith offense with mobility that was a Fields strength.  Give Fields a three year deal at $50 million and wish Russ all the best.  Appreciate your thoughts.  Thanks.

Lot of Fields/Wilson talk now. That's cool. And Chuck raises a good point that I neglected to mention. It's been my sense all season that Smith preferred Fields and thought he could build a better offense/plan around that skill set. Now, I think it goes without saying that Tomlin's pivot to Russ was the right move at the time when you look at the results, but that to me is the overall issue at play here with these two. Fields higher ceiling, Wilson higher floor. Which one do you want the Steelers chasing right now?

I heard an NFL films microphone picked this up from the Steelers defensive huddle in the first half: "1-2-3 Cancun!"

Let's hope some of them are still in the locker room today or else I'm wasting my time going down there, HH.

Hi Brian, I believe any discussion of the future of the Steelers is a waste of time other than discussing who the new Head Coach should be. Please wake me up after we have a new Head Coach. I'm tuning out of all things Steelers until such time. Thanks!

You sure about that?

Not really the year to look for a QB in the draft, is it?

Probably not. Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders will go top five, if not top three. Beyond those two, I occasionally find myself intrigued by Jalen Milroe from Alabama, but that's about it for potential first-rounders. Again, I'll suggest taking one Day 2 or 3 and maybe less investment can actually yield higher returns, but they're gonna have so many other holes to address too.

Good morning, Brian!  What is the rationale for folks thinking the Steelers won't want to try to keep Najee next year?  I think he's played well, but I don't think any team will break the bank on him.

Because they declined his option, which was not an unreasonable price, and more to the point I just think that relationship has run its course. Najee Harris had a chance after the game to do the usual "would love to be back here" platitudes and just said he hasn't thought about it much at all. Kind of tells me what I figured anyway, that he wants a fresh start.

Sure thing, Brian. And great chat questions, engagement and comments from you fine folks all season. Now I do have to go and I appreciate everyone for reading, listening, watching, whatever you did on the P-G platforms. We won't be going anywhere but thanks. Have a great week.
