Do the Steelers still draft receivers well? They find some market inefficiencies with players who have red flags and fall in the draft as a result. Not the worst strategy, but you better be able to harness that talent while they're around to make it a good pick. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they move on from George Pickens but I don't know that it would have any impact on acquiring a new QB.

If what is being reported that Art II prefers Wilson to come back next year this team is in deep trouble?  Who is giving him advice?  Does Omar have any say in what goes on?   Thank you.

One thing about Art Rooney II, even if you don't agree with some of his quotes in interviews or football opinions, you can't accuse him of being a Jerry Jones type of owner who forces his way. There's no doubt he delegates and trusts his staff, led by Tomlin and Khan, to steer most of the big decisions. He respects that chain of command in operating the franchise.

Bats, I was pondering something yesterday evening while watching the Genesis. Supposedly, the Saints are in a situation close to cap hell and they have to make cuts. Olave has had his fair share of injury issues and is due a risky fifth year option. Roman Wilson’s skills seem to overlap with his and the Steelers’ competitive window is closing from a defensive perspective. Offer the 52nd pick and Wilson for Olave and gamble on the fifth year option. Use this as leverage to resign Fields at a manageable cost with the guarantee that he will start the regular season. From there, draft a flyer in the 3rd or 4th, say Leonard or Gabriel.

That's an interesting idea from Just some guy. Chris Olave's concussion history is significant, but in a way, that's not as concerning as nagging lower-body problems or even a major one. That's not to downplay brain injuries or suggest they can't be career-changing, but he also might bounce back from it completely. Off the top of my head, I don't hate it. I'd have to ponder it more. But I'm a hard no on Dillon Gabriel and 3rd/4th seems steep for Riley Leonard.

Hey Bats, Isn’t this precious idea of the frustrated fan base that the steelers are concerned with the streak just the fact that the steelers are concerned with winning?

Sort of, yes, Chill Dave

Good morning, Brian. First time here. Do you think the Steelers scouting department needs an overhaul?  Seems to me they miss more than hit pay dirt. Thank you.

Overhaul? No. I liked the Andy Weidl hire and still do. But some of their other additions in recent years didn't come from organizations nearly as successful as the ones Weidl had been in.

If the Steelers are never in rebuild mode, are we really looking at several more years of being good, but not great or can it be turned around in a couple years? Thank you

You can turn things around quickly in the NFL, but yes, bottoming out can be a reasonable way to make that happen. And we know that's not in the Steelers' DNA.

OK folks, I've got to run. Thanks for all the questions during this relatively quiet time of Steelers news and developments. You never let me or us down.
