Do you see any player that the Steelers would be willing to move up in the draft for? If so what player do you see that happening for?

The one that stands out to me is Joey Porter Jr. If they truly love him as a prospect, on top of all the warm and fuzzy, that's one that would make a lot of sense. Not saying I would do it, because it would also be a lot of pressure on a young man to come into the franchise with that weight of expectation, but if he'd be the top CB on their board even if his name were Joe Schmo, maybe the familiarity would be enough to force their hand. Then again, I'd be very skeptical of any athlete named Joe Schmo.

What's up Brian.  My question is this - our secondary was torched horribly last year. As has been the case the past several seasons...what are your thoughts on the steelers pulling the trigger on a CB, like Joey Porter, Jr out of Penn State?  Do you believe the Steelers could/would grab him based on talent or by family ties?  Either way, do you believe he's a pick 17 caliber? Thanks

Hey, another Brian. Yes, I think he's top-17 caliber. It feels like a lot of Steelers fans are trying to convince themselves he's not, and that he's only getting that buzz because of his name, but come on. Look at rankings from just about any major draft analyst and he's right there in that mix, if not higher. And strictly as a player, the Steelers haven't had a big, fast, physical corner like him (or Christian Gonzalez, or Kelee Ringo) since ... Ike Taylor?

If Brian Branch is there at 17 could he be the pick?

Yes. Versatile/smart and productive. And on this National Brian Day, he's my current projection for the Steelers in the first round. That could change if there's a different National Bryan Day on the horizong.

Horizong? Now I'm making typos, which means it's probably time to cut my losses and end this chat here. Thanks for all the questions, folks, and sorry if I didn't have time to get yours. Ray Fittipaldo will be in the office tomorrow.
