I would and I think the Steelers would too. But not sure who would give up a 2nd-rounder for him.

How should I be feeling today?
Brian Batko
2:47
All in all, probably still pretty good. You're rich, famous, tall, successful, a Pitt legend, a college football great and a professional athlete.

Does Cushenberry make sense at center due to familiarity with RW?
Brian Batko
2:48
Ex-Broncos center Lloyd Cushenberry is already off the free agency board to the Titans.

What are the chances they move on from Kenny 2 Gloves?
Brian Batko
2:49
Like, remove him from the roster in some way? Ehh maybe 5.3%

Batman, with Wilson coming to town I’m now more on the side of keeping DJ. BUT, if the khan man wants to really throw another move, how about going after Ridley? It would really handcuff an otherwise weak receiver market and thus give more leverage in acquiring some capital for DJ.

If I'm moving players and money around at wide receiver, I'm doing so to make George Pickens the clear-cut No. 1 rather than acquiring a player who's just as productive as Diontae Johnson, if not more so.

Hi Brian! Besides trying to win now, are the steelers attempting the Packers QB succession plan the other way round, by first drafting the successor in Pickett and then bringing in the elder mentor in Wilson?
Brian Batko
2:51
I don't think so, Marc.

If the Broncos are paying RW's contract for next 2 years then why only sign RW for 1 season minimum versus 2?
Brian Batko
2:53
As far as I know, they aren't. Believe they got out of that by cutting Wilson when they did.

Will Wilson’s signing have a negative or positive effect on the locker room? Since he is on a 1 year deal, who will be our QB IN 2025? Kenny? Outside FA or draft pick?
Brian Batko
2:56
Might depend on the player. I don't get the vibe that many Steelers offensive guys have a problem with Pickett, but I'm not sure there are strong allegiances there either. Can't imagine it going over poorly with the defensive veterans. Cam Heyward probably has some sort of relationship with him for as long as they've been around and in the same circles. TJ Watt is a fellow Wisconsin Badger.

Brian: I am surprised by the negativity around this signing.  If you believed as I did that the most likely scenario was to bring in Tannehill for say $7m a year, how can you not like getting a better player for $6m less?  Rudolph showed very little in his first 5 years to show that he was the long term answer and he probably wants a fresh start anyway.  They don't need to find out about Pickett, everybody that isn't a Pitt fan already knows.  Some wanted Fields and I liked that idea.  I would have traded TJ to get the ammunition to make a run at Williams or Daniels, but they were never going to do that.  This is a unique opportunity to get a $20m ish player for league minimum.  I like it.

Yes, it is a unique and some may even say unprecedented opportunity. I don't think Ryan Tannehill was going to cost that much, but your point is noted. And I'm still quite intrigued to see where, when and for how much Mason Rudolph signs.

Hi Brian - absolutely pumped about Russ! Costs nothing....use the draft and free agency to shore up weaknesses. Get a solid run game going with our two headed monster, and let Russ throw those beautiful long balls to GP and DJ. His best years may be behind him, but he knows how to throw TD passes and still has mobility! What say you, Brian?

I don't love the signing - as I've said and written before, I'm willing to give Pickett one more chance with a new OC - but I get it. He's dirt-cheap. He's been very good in the past, knows how to win in the NFL and just might've been the wrong fit in Denver.

Hi Brian. I like bringing in Wilson for one year to give Kenny a year to reset and learn a new offense. This is all good on paper but at what point do the Steelers stop accepting winning seasons and go all in for a franchise quarterback? Would that mean trading away a draft to get near the top? They can draft well and sign fantastic free agents but that's all window dressing without a top tier quarterback.

Yeah, I don't think Wilson is that guy. I'm strongly leaning toward Pickett isn't that guy. But how many franchises have that guy? They're all in search of it, few have nailed it. The Steelers give themselves something of a self-imposed obstacle in that area because of the steadfast refusal to bottom-out/rebuild. If nothing else, this re-tooling of the roster just got a lot more interesting than running it back with Pickett-Rudolph.

OK folks, would love to keep chatting but other work and life duties beckon. Free agency continues in earnest. No other moves for the Steelers yet but Kirk Cousins is off to Atlanta. Enjoy the flurry of moves.
