Why do Post Gazette writers keep saying that signing William Jackson cost the Steelers nothing because he didn't play? Didn't the Steelers waste $ 3 million on his salary that could have been rolled over to 2023 cap?
Brian Batko

That's a fair point, but from my perspective, it cost them nothing in terms of trade compensation. You certainly can't call it a good deal for them. It's just not as bad as you'd think for a guy who literally never stepped foot on the field for them in a game.

Brian,  Who is your favorite free agent you would like the Steelers to sign?
Brian Batko

Tremaine Edmunds probably would be the best marriage of talent/need, but a lot of teams would say that.

What went wrong with Devin Bush? They imagined him as someone who could help with pass coverage and stop the run. But it seems to me his top problem is that he could never shed blockers. Why did they not antipate this? Why should we get excited about 3 picks in the top 48 if they missed so badly on a very high end pick

My take: the injury is the biggest factor, but Bush's own lack of hunger also hurt his development.

Thanks for the chats, Brian! It seems egregious to not give Sutton the deal the Lions gave him. Do you think it was the Steelers choice or Sutton choosing to play elsewhere?
Brian Batko

You never know, but I have no reason to believe Sutton didn't enjoy playing here. In fact, he always seemed as bought-in as anybody.

With Sutton now gone which Steeler is first to come back i’m thinking Spillane
