Pivoting to Derek Carr would just be change for the sake of change. And the Steelers have had plenty of change at QB the past five years.

Brian, of all the free agents who are currently left on the market who would you like to see the Steelers target?
Brian Batko
2:55
Well, if it's up to me for my own selfish reason, *I* would like to see them bring back Jonnu Smith, Scotty Miller and Isaiahh Loudermilk because they're all very nice guys!

Hi Brian, with Waitman moving on, when was the last meaningful punt we had from Johnson?  Do think we will draft a punter in the later rounds or sign a veteran?
Brian Batko

His first and only regular-season appearance with the Steelers, when his leg got demolished Week 1 down in Atlanta two years ago. And I do think they'll bring in a second punter, but I haven't looked into the college prospects much yet. There are always punters for hire floating around out there, so whoever it is, I'd say they'll have their work cut out to unseat Cam Johnston, who's familiar not just with the front office and Acrisure Stadium but Chris Boswell and Christian Kuntz, too.

Is there a chance we sign a veteran o-lineman, or will that mess up the comp pick formula for next years draft?
Brian Batko

That's another reason why the dots connect with Brock Hoffman from the Cowboys. He was a restricted free agent who wasn't tendered, so does not count in the compensatory formula.

Brian, how is the DL in this draft and who are the top two?

The very top isn't as good as years past I think but I'd say the depth is solid. And with a lot of different varieties. You've got your smaller, twitchier penetrating types. You've got your massive run-stoppers who can take up a gap, gap and a half or two. And you've got your taller, longer base ends who can have a role on those early downs at worst. Top two for my money are Keldric Faulk and Kayden McDonald. I put Faulk in the DL bucket because at his size, I believe he could line up there for the Steelers, whereas some teams will view him more as an edge defenders.

What free agents have the Steelers signed who do not count in the compensatory formula? Thank you

Believe it's just Jamel Dean and Cam Johnston, but neither does Michael Pittman Jr. given that he was traded.

Why not try to trade for JJ McCarthy. Mason and fourth round pick. Ohio State versus Michigan QB fight. Let Rodgers start and be memories for a year.

Maybe bring in Drew Allar, too? OK, let's end on that one.

Thanks everybody, enjoy your time tomorrow with Mr. Fittipaldo at noon. Apologies for the intermission but Jaquan Brisker takes precedent. Later
