That's probably the one wild card that would make me stop and think. I wouldn't trade up, but if he falls into your lap and you talk yourself into sitting him behind Trubisky and even Rudolph/Haskins for a full season (or more?) it's intriguing.

Any rumblings about Haden? Had that nostalgic tweet and then ... poof, nothing.
Brian Batko
2:44
No, but I'm guessing that was the end of negotiations with the Steelers or something like that.
2:45
Breaking news during the chat: Saints are signing Jameis Winston for 2 years, $28 million with $21 million guaranteed. Makes the Trubisky deal look even more like a bargain, though Winston was solid last year until his injury.

Seems everyone wants a Georgia DL, but what about the safety, Cine?   Last I checked, Steelers need a good safety, esp considering there is no guarantee Minkah is here after next year.
Brian Batko
2:47
Yeah, Lewis Cine helped himself at the combine, too. His highlights are pretty tasty. It's a fairly solid safety class, starting with Kyle Hamilton as the possible No. 1 pick.

Who is the heir apparent to be Coach T's fall guy if they do not win a playoff game again this year?
Brian Batko
2:47
Some guy named Scott.

No question, just a comment. I keep seeing people on this and other chats spell our new QB's name "Trubiski". I hate to be a nitpicker, but people it's Trubisky with a "y" not an "I" at the end, Got that!

Seconded. I usually only publish questions with names spelled correctly, or dunk on the person if they aren't.

Good afternoon, Brian, and greetings from Boston! I truly enjoy the weekly chats from afar. While I'm not terribly upset or surprised that JuJu left, I am disappointed that James Washington was let go despite not ever getting an opportunity to fully show what he can do. I though that he would be a great slot receiver (was never sold on his ability to get separation on deep routes), especially knowing that JuJu would leave. What do you think the deal was with his limited opportunities, while guys like Ray Ray McCloud were being treated like Tyreek Hill 2.0? Thanks again!

Washington got plenty of opportunities. Maybe not in the slot, but if he'd shown them slot type abilities, they would've put him there right? They were trying to win games. If it turns out that he steps into Dallas as a productive inside receiver for Dak Prescott and the Steelers were just using him wrong, I'll eat my words.

Is Trey Norwood a possible replacement for Edmunds?
Brian Batko
2:52
No, I don't think Tre* (being nice now) can play there. His frame is slight and I'm not sure you want him having a ton of responsibility against the run. But the Steelers usually deployed him on obvious passing situations and he acquitted himself well, especially for a rookie seventh-rounder.

Any chance the Steelers look at signing Jarvis Landry? Seems like he’s a solid wideout and would be a good leader in the locker room
Brian Batko
2:54
Pass from me. He really struggled at times last year and he'll be 30 this season. Wouldn't hurt to have some leadership in this receiver room, but I'd rather get a young guy here who can be around for 5-10 years considering the jury is still out on DIontae Johnson and Chase Claypoo.
Now I'm misspelling names! Chase Claypool, of course.

Is Mason considered a mobile quarterback the Steelers covet?  If they draft one higher than round 5 does that indicate Haskins or Rudolph are on the way out?
Brian Batko
2:57
I believe it was Art Rooney II who called him "mobile enough" in a sit-down with WPXI. Not exactly a huge vote of confidence in ol Mason's wheels. To your second point, yes. Not gonna keep all four.

Brian, If the Steelers don't pick up a DL in FA would you expect them to draft 2 DL in the first four rounds. Maybe their #1 and #4 picks?
Brian Batko
2:58
No. Why would they? They just re-signed Montravius Adams, so when you add Cam Heyward, Tyson Alualu, Chris Wormley and Isaiahh Loudermilk, you're at five coming back. They typically keep six on the roster. None of the guys I just listed strike me as in danger of being cut. AND there's still the possibility, however slight, that Stephon Tuitt returns and you're even more crowded. Go use your picks somewhere else!

OK friends, that's all the time we have for today. Thanks for spending the time again this week. We'll run it back next Monday.
