Long time First time...what up Bat! Not a question, just a statement here. It is so refreshing to see today’s athlete choose loyalty, stability, and class over money, greed, and selfishness. I got to give it to JuJu and Tyson, from a savvy vet to a still wet behind your ears 4year vet. Just shows what type of organization the Pittsburgh Steelers run. I’ve had a bad taste in my mouth for quite some time now with athletes in general, I decided to just route for the team, not the players. So when players play and not play for all the wrong reasons it just shows there’s hope for all the good that’s still out there. God Bless and....HERE WE GO STEELERS! HERE WE GO!

Sounds good to me. Thanks, Dewy.

Brian "Billy" Bats what up. So the stinkers are done in F.A and have acquired no one of consequence or matter. What do they do rd.1? OT or RB or OLB. Maybe a CB. Never know with them.

We're on a good run of chatters referring to me as "Bats"

over under 5.5 wins for steelers 2021
Brian Batko
2:37
That seems pretty low, LP. Especially with 17 games. I'm not particularly high on them, but I'll certainly smash that over.
Who ?
2:38
So Ryan Wilson from CBS Sports have them picking Caleb Farley in the 1st. Who is he ? He said "he'll be a steal"
Brian Batko
2:39
Caleb Farley would be a steal at 24 overall, according to most draft experts. But he's a cornerback from Virginia Tech who opted out this past season. Also once got stiff-armed into oblivion by Pitt running back Qadree Ollison in a game I was covering:
Caleb Farley may well be a great man and a future Hall of Famer, but that will forever be the first thing I think of.

Hello Brian, I just don't understand why the Steelers want to bring back Big Al as his plays have deteriorated. Is this another ARII decision as he seems to be heavily involved with key personnel decisions.
Brian Batko
2:41
I'm not at all convinced they want to bring him back. If they do, he better come cheap, because you'd be sacrificing a lot of youth/power at the point of attack to potentially make Ben more comfortable.

hey Brian...do you think we will eventually learn why the Steelers let Steven Nelson go & re-sign JuJu?  Did the Steelers have a plan that got rerouted or were they already wanting to drop Nelson?  Or are they hoping he doesn’t get a free agent offer and comes back cheaper?
Brian Batko
2:44
Kevin Colbert and Mike Tomlin eventually will be asked about that, I'm sure. To borrow a Tomlin-ism, I'm not sure if the Nelson stuff was a hardcore plan all along or if they were trying to be light on their feet.

Do you think the top 4 QBs will be off the board with the first four picks?  How soon before the top 4 are gone?
Brian Batko
2:47
No but it looks like they're being pushed up the board based on all of this trading activity. So, could it go Lawrence-Wilson-Fields-Lance or something like that? Yeah, especially with Mac Jones looming too, but I'll still say that a non-QB sneaks in there in the top four. But wouldn't be a surprise to see the top four QBs go in the first 5-10 picks, and maybe even a fifth.

Hey there, just wanted to say thanks for using my question in the weekly Mailbag...it's awesome to see my name in lights.  ;)
Brian Batko

You're welcome, Jud. The mailbag is open to all. Lord knows I can't get to all the chat questions each week. Maybe not even half.

Fair enough but if you have doubts about Harris' pass catching prowess... rewatch the Nat Champ game... He could replace JuJU imo.  Have a great week guy!
Brian Batko

I didn't say I have doubts about Harris as a receiver, because I don't. Just that Etienne is has gotten really good at it, too.

At the age of 23 there's about 5%chance the Steelers draft Najee Harris. What you say?
Brian Batko
2:51
Honestly, didn't realize he's that old. Personally, that wouldn't worry me too much, especially for a running back. But your point is well taken that the Steelers have often liked non-seniors in the first round.

afternoon Bats!! does Ben get to 422 tds ? also to 63,500 yards ? passing danny and philip in both categories
Brian Batko
2:53
So he'd need 26 touchdowns and a hair over 3,000 yards? Hmmm. I'll go yes.
Art Rooney's Mind
2:54
After some thought, I do not need a top 10 running game just one which is competent and can run when it wants, pickup first downs or TDs on 3rd and short or 4th and short, and be sufficient to slow the pass rush. Competent meaning at least middle of the league at worst. Our OL last year could neither do this nor hold its pass protection long enough for the longer routes down field to come open so we went with the shorter passing game. Defenses caught up with us at end of the season and we had no response, except to let Ben throw it for 500 yards a game. So I am thinking OL in Round 1 and 2, or 3 if an ILB or OLB is available in the 2nd, so that with Banner, Okorafor, Dotson, these two OL studs could set my OL for the next 5 to 8 years barring injuries and be ready to protect my new QB in 2022 or 2023. Please stop my mind from racing and tell me I am heading in the proper direction.
Brian Batko
2:55
Go back to the drawing board if you want to spend 2 of your first 3 picks on OL. There will be more drafts in the future, you know.
OK before I get any questions from Kevin Colbert's Mind or Mike Tomlin's Mind or even Brian Batko's mind, I'm going to skedaddle. Thanks for swinging by.
