Hey Silent Bob. Personally, I'd be a bit underwhelmed by a Kenneth Gainwell/Jaylen Warren backfield without a rookie making meaningful contributions (even though we have it on record my special connection with Kenny G). I just think a bigger back who can pick up tough yards between the tackles and present a change-up of sorts would be a good addition, whether that's in the 3rd round, 4th or 5th. If it's a powerful dude who also has some breakaway speed, even better, though those types don't exactly make themselves available on Day 3 too often.

Erie supports tomlin, and says Reid was nothing without mahomes. Well even with Big Ben AB and lev bell MT managed to win… abso-freaking/lutely nothing. Mcvay, O’Connell, shanahan, and more could have made that a super team. Does Rooney not realize offense now wins?

Fair point, Ct. I award you plus-2 for today's chat. But there also are 2 points for the taking to anyone who wants to argue Tomlin won three AFC North crowns and reached an AFC title game with those groups.

Rodgers?  Check.  Watt?  Check.  Draft trade down?  Check.  Tomlin?  Check.  Any other expected questions I missed?

I don't think we got to the trade-down yet, Brian, but well done.

My argument for the draft has always been, build out the lines. Then when the time comes to draft a QB, you can be safe in saying you can protect him, and hopefully give your team a fighting chance on the defensive side of things. Regardless if Rodgers signs, I still would go DT/DE in the first round. Who out of the later round QBs interests you the most?

Not only that, but you can also more fairly and (ideally) accurately evaluate that quarterback rather than wondering if he was tossed into a rough situation. I'm kind of intrigued by Riley Leonard if we're talking more-than-likely third-day options.

Are there any NFL coordinators or college head coaches on the horizon that would be an exciting hire 3 years from now when Tomlin is finally gone?
Brian Batko
12:57
Certainly. I always keep a rolling list of names I think have NFL head coach potential for the day the time comes here (and hopefully I'm still doing this job and these chats with you all when it does). Marcus Freeman, Mike LaFleur, Brian Johnson come to mind off the top of my head.

Which scenario is more likely: A: the draft arrives without a commitment from Rodgers and the team is pressured into reaching for a qb in rd 1 or B: Rodgers has given the team a verbal assurance that he will sign with them once OTA’s are over so that he can skip them without getting beaten up in the media

Probably A but don't hold me to that

Bats, the Rodgers drama has gone on waaay too long.  When does Art say enough!  Move on!  And why are MT and Khan so enamored of a 41 year old over-the-hill (although once very good) QB?

Might be worth keeping in mind that it's drama to those of us on the outside. Those on the inside could be much more assured of their status, what Rodgers is thinking, how it'll turn out, etc. But it gets harder and harder to keep those two worlds separated and I can't imagine that's very fun for the team president.

Idk Bats, is this the year we see it all implode?  Think we are underestimating how Fields/Russ did last year and even with Rodgers I think this team, as it sits, is around a 4-6 win team.  Not alot of draft capital to fill alot of holes - though I'm open to a few down years to re-build this team but is Tomlin the coach to do it?

I think some variation of this every year and it never does! It's gotten to the point that I simply will not pick the Steelers to finish under .500 until I see it with my own eyes. Doesn't matter if Mason Rudolph starts Week 1, Shedeur Sanders or Jaxson Dart is under center, Mike Tomlin is retired, whatever. I'll just be a year too late rather than  a year too early.

OK folks, we're teetering on this becoming yet another Tomlin referendum, plus it's been an hour so I'm gonna close up shop. My pal and yours Ray Fittipaldo will be back at noon tomorrow to keep the boat cruising. Thanks for chatting.
