Over/Under: .5 games played on a Tuesday this season?
Brian Batko
12:43
Under. Man, I sure hope it's under.
Not that I mind working on a Tuesday rather than a Sunday. But if the Steelers are playing on a Tuesday, something went very wrong ... again.

Outside of CB & S could you see the Steelers adding any other FA's?
Brian Batko
12:46
You never know. Maybe LT? Eric Fisher just signed with the Colts, but that's a $9.4 million one-year deal to be the starter. Maybe TE? Zach Gentry/Kevin Rader would be your No. 3 as of now. I do also wonder if the Steelers would entertain the idea of bringing in a veteran RB, not only for playing time but also for Najee Harris to learn from. That's kind of all that's left on the market at that position anyway.

As of today, who's your AFC North favorite?
Brian Batko

The Cleveland Browns, of course.

How many more productive years do you think Hayward has left
Brian Batko
12:50
He's signed through 2024, longer than anyone else on the roster. He'll be 35 by that point. That's asking a lot of a DL to continue playing at a high level that long, but I think Cam can do it. Maybe eases into a more complementary role by the end, but he's always been durable and a guy who wins with size/strength/technique more than relying on sheer athleticism.

Hello Brian, great chats. Love the Pressley Harvin pick. He is a big boy. Any chance they use him in short yardage situations or too valuable as a punter to risk injury?
Brian Batko
12:52
Great question, Guest. I'd love to see him get some goal-line carries, injury risk be damned. If the Steelers don't want to utilize the QB sneak, dust off the punter sneak.

Avery Williamson & Steve Nelson are still unsigned. Either one of them coming back?
Brian Batko

I don't see it, phillyj.

Good morning Bats, Hope you had a great weekend.
Any discussion of Minkah working on tackling during the offseason or is it status quo for him in that area with the thought that he is good enough in other areas to tolerate the missed tackles ongoing.....?

Great weekend at the Batko house, celebrating the SuperMom(s) in our lives. I don't think it's a huge concern, honestly. But I'm sure Minkah Fitzpatrick is trying to improve in every way possible this offseason. Doesn't mean he'll stop gambling at times, but he has to pick his spots and make sure he wraps up more often than not.

Bats, in your opinion is the Steelers starting Qb in 2022 on the roster currently? If not who do you think it will be Draft pick next year or a veteran free agent?
Brian Batko
12:57
Now that Rudolph and Haskins are both effectively in the fold for next year, I'm going to say yes. It could put the Steelers in a situation where you learn a lot about one or both guys, and a win-win sort of scenario. If one of those two proves himself in 2022, great! If they both stink up the joint, then OK, now you know it's time to draft the next franchise QB (and you might even get a pick high enough to do it). A middle ground outcome would be tricky, no doubt.

Brian, just can't argue with the team selecting Najee Harris. But the 2nd round pick--they probably should have gone after the best tackle available, then another O-Lman in round 3 or Hunter Long, the Boston College TE who's a guy with a lot of potential. Unless Freirmuth turns out to be another Mark Breuner...

Hunter Long was gone by pick No. 87, so that might not have been an option for them. That tells me they really like what Freiermuth can bring to the table long term, and they haven't had a long-term kind of tight end since Heath Miller.
OK friends, that's all the time we have for today. Thanks for stopping by, as always. Ray Fittipaldo on the docket tomorrow. Gerry Dulac on Wednesday. Then we'll have a 2021 schedule for the Steelers. Then it's on to rookie minicamp. Feel the excitement!
