Played less than half the snaps last year for the Jets, so third-down specialist seems more likely. Mike Tomlin has mentioned that third-down linebacker role as one that has become sort of its own beast in today's NFL. Rob Spillane was that guy for much of last season and he's off to Vegas.

I haven't had a chance to follow up with you since the draft...  Two weeks ago you told me that I was being too optimistic, and that Joey Porter Jr. wouldn't make it out of the first round.  So, I was wondering how surprised were you to see him there at 32?  How did I know?  (It was his 40 time, here in Indy). ; )

We were all surprised, Jay, including the Steelers. A 4.46 40 isn't that bad, especially for a guy with his physical traits. More stunning were the Lions going Jahmyr Gibbs/Jack Campbell and the Commanders taking Emmanuel Forbes despite his size concerns.

Chances Kenny Robinson makes it to camp and possibly the 53

Would be a nice story, but it'll be tough at safety. He'll need to be a special teams demon. At least he's getting a shot from his hometown team after being out of the league last season. I shouldn't say he was out of the league, but he was on the Panthers practice squad.

Hakeem Butler had been directly mentioned by Omar Khan prior to rookie minicamp, however he wasn't present nor has there been any news of him signing onto the 90 man roster since.
Is there still a possibility of him signing on or has that ship sailed?

He was a very exciting prospect coming out of college, things obviously hadn't worked out in the NFL initially but he seemingly found back his groove in the XFL

Bonsoir, Jimmy. My sense is the Steelers are working to sign him to the offseason roster and didn't feel the need to see him in the rookie camp setting.

I'd like to see Burfict get KOed, how bout you?

Sure, I'd watch him fight Le'Veon Bell, but not if I have to pay for it. I always miss out on those celebrity boxing things for that reason.

No.

OK friends, we're out of time for this chat. We'll do it again next week on the eve of OTAs. Ray Fittipaldo will be back to his normal day and time tomorrow, I believe. Have fun.
