The day the Steelers get cheerleaders will be the day they let a player wear 0 or 1.

I've been on the road so this question is a bit dated.  Ben took a ton of heat for his Pickett comments but I recall Montana rooting against Young, Favre - Rodgers, now probably Rodgers- Love.  I'm willing to bet Troy maybe hoped just a little the Steelers defense suffered a bit without him too.  Ben was just being honest, which is a bit refreshing.

Do most fans not realize that other teams get better in the offseason, too?
Brian Batko

To Bernard: Normally I'd criticize you for not including a question, but I agree.
2:51
To Mike P: That's basically what I'm saying. Sure, the Steelers made moves that look good on paper. Most NFL teams do, and the players you thought were butt are now free agents looking for work. 200-some dudes were drafted and are gonna be great despite having never played a down yet, if you ask their respective fan bases. This isn't like the other pro leagues where every year there are several teams blatantly trying to get worse so that they can later get better. The structure of the NFL promotes parity and as a result most franchises are making win-now moves. If the 2023 Steelers take a huge leap and prove me wrong, I'll have no problem admitting it.

Lots of hate gets throw around regarding Levi Wallace. I thought he was solid for us last year, and has been a solid starter over his career. Do you understand where this comes from? I understand he’s not a star, but he’s a dependable player
Brian Batko

Wait, who hates Levi Wallace? He is indeed dependable, durable and dare I say damn solid when the ball comes his way. Dude has 11 picks over the last four years. Also one of the nicest and coolest guys in the locker room. We will NOT stand for Levi Wallace hate in this chat.

Do you expect the Steelers will keep a traditional fullback like Pottebaum, an H-back type like Heyward, or both?
Brian Batko
2:55
At this point I've got Connor Heyward sticking around as a jack of all trades. Not sure there's room for Monte "The Mullet" Pottebaum though we all can dream.

Hard to list them all, so congrats to all Shaler athletics for a great year…and more to prove!  A you see Kevin Dotson earning a spot on this team. He seems like a casualty barring any injuries.
Brian Batko

That's right, the Titans have been on a tear lately. Hopefully baseball is having a good time right now in the first round of state playoffs. In the end, I'll still give Kevin Dotson a spot. Injuries happen and he's proven himself a capable NFL starter. But I don't feel great  about it. Don't even feel good. We'll see.

Will there be enough information by the end of the season to declare Pickett a franchise QB or a bust?
Brian Batko

Ehhhh I'll say no.

With the Cardinals in complete rebuild mode, do you believe Khan is considering making a move for Isaiah Simmons and/or Buddah Baker? Any thoughts on what those players’ trade value would be?
Brian Batko
3:01
Omar Khan should've bought the bulk package of Markus Golden, JJ Watt, DeAndre Hopkins, Isaiah Simmons, Budda Baker and Kliff Kingsbury (OC) when he had the chance!

I kid, I kid. And with that we'll fold up this week's chat. It was real, it was fun, and it was real fun! Talk to you all (and some of you directly) in Friday's mailbag. Otherwise, see you Monday.
