Are the Ravens really a team that we should be worried about competing for the division?  An offseason for NFL teams to prepare for a 2nd year QB that can't throw makes me think they'll be competing with the Bungles.

It's possible. I don't love the Ravens going into this season, but to play devil's advocate to your prompt, what about an improved Lamar Jackson in Year 2? One thing about the Ravens is they definitely have an identity. They're going to want to pound the rock and shorten games. Whether they'll be good enough on either side of the ball to successfully make use of that formula remains to be seen. They could start 2-0, though, by opening at Miami and vs. Arizona.

If you had one option to evaluate a players readiness would you rather see him in a practice session or in preseason game?

Preseason game.

IYO is JuJu more likely to turn into a Hines Ward kind of player on the field or more like Santonio?  I personally see a lot of similarities to Hines.

He's 2-3 inches taller than both of those guys, and a bigger body overall, so I'm not sure either comparison is apt. But given his willingness to block and general toughness, maybe Hines Ward?

Great article by Ron Cook today.  Which Steeler would you least like mad at you?

It was really good. As a sports reporter myself, and a relatively young one, I greatly enjoyed it. The vast majority of Steelers are much bigger than me, but how about Chris Boswell or Jordan Berry? Imagine how hard they could kick me where the sun doesn't shine.
By the way, here's a link to that column if you missed it https://www.post-gazette.com/sports/ron-cook/2019/06/25/journalists-at...

Hi Brian...love your work.  Hey, I'm in a minority, but I think if you don't solve the placekicking issue, NOTHING else matters.   Games are that close anymore.   Thanks...love the chats...Dan

Thank you, Dan. It's absolutely near the top of this team's priority list. Not having a reliable kicker can torpedo a promising season, and it's one of those issues that can become a slippery slope in the NFL. The Steelers sort of lucked into Chris Boswell, but look at the Chicago Bears. They're still smarting from Cody Parkey's miss last season, and finding the new guy has proven very tricky so far this offseason.

Thank you for doing these.   In your opinion, why don’t the Steelers run more/any play action any more?  I see them always show that they are running with their personnel and then running, the same with passing.

I'd love to know where Ratville is, but honestly, I wasn't paying close enough attention to this team last year to really give you a great answer there.

Is there anyone on this team with exceptional speed?
Brian Batko

Compared to me, all of them.

Who do you think wins more games this year the Raiders or the Jets?
Brian Batko

Well that's a fun question to end with. I'm actually going to say the Raiders, even though they have a tougher schedule and division. I'm one of probably very few people higher on Derek Carr and Sam Darnold, but I also think Jon Gruden's a better coach than Adam Gase. The Jets are a mess. The Raiders might be too, but I'll still take the team that just acquired one of the best receivers in the game.
OK, that's all the time I have for today. I'm on vacation next week, so try not to miss me too much. Sandbridge, here I come. (If you know, you know.)
