Any truth to the rumors Slay has an injury concern?
Brian Batko

I mean, he's 34, so I wouldn't assume he has a fully clean bill of health. But I also assume the Steelers would've done their due diligence on that front before signing him.

Hi, Brian.  Any rumblings that the Steeelers are interested in the WR for 49’ers that want a pay raise?  Nice work and thanks!

Omar Khan probably checks in. Omar Khan probably checks in on anything and everything. That's kind of his job, and the man has unlimited minutes on his cell phone plan.

What do you think was the reason Minka was traded?
Brian Batko

Steelers envision Jalen Ramsey being a better player, or at least a more versatile player for them in 2025. Naturally, baked into that assessment is a certain level of disappointment with Minkah Fitzpatrick's play - relative to Ramsey's play, anyway.

Brian I think the Steelers are far ahead of where they were last year.  Added two Bigger tougher DTs in this draft to free up the LBs to make more plays defensively.  And Got a steal RB in Round 3 from Iowa.  I think he's what we all envisioned Najee to be.  I think the OL takes the next step. I think QB AR will be the game manager the team needs. I don't look at the term "game manager" to be a negative but more of a leader role the offense has lacked.....What say you

All those stars aligning are exactly what the Steelers have in mind, sure. But the other teams get paid, too. They'll have O-linemen trying to push around those tough DTs. They'll have their own game-breaking running backs. And, again, the X-factor that I keep coming back to, the best of the best have QBs who are more force multipliers than game managers.

Does improving a Cornerback room lessen the need for a high-profile Safety room? People can say what thet want about Minkah, but i thought Deshone Elliott may have been 1 of our best under-the-radar/cheap FA signings in years. Unless i missed it off-camera on tv, Minkah doesn't shadow WRs, he waits for them.

Yeah, you could say that, I guess. If the Steelers saw a Minkah Fitzpatrick who too often was essentially just keeping everything in front of him, then maybe they figure Juan Thornhill can do that for a lot less money. Especially with DeShon Elliott making plays against the run and occasionally elsewhere in front of him.

Mike Tomlin has a lot of great dinners with draft prospects. What does he usually eat? Just want to be able to visualize these dinners better and guess whether any one is chewing with their mouths open. Thanks.

Great question to end on, Ben. I'm gonna go with a steak of some sort. That's my best guess. But I know he likes to drink sweet tea on the road. I've heard him say that on the record.

OK folks, time to call it a day. Gotta record tomorrow's Chipped Ham & Football show shortly so that's ready for you bright and early. Have a great rest of your Monday.
