If this year goes really poorly for him, I figure they'd think about moving Troy Fautanu while hitting the free-agent market and/or the draft.

Bats any chance of a flip on the tackles if jones continues to struggle on the left side?
Brian Batko
2:44
They love Troy Fautanu and are confident he could play any position on the line, I know that much

Classic training camp overreactions: Jones is back to playing LT, has a few struggles and fans are ready to call him a bust.  That's why I'm glad fans don't run the team!!
Brian Batko
2:44
Yeah, we're definitely bordering on overreaction time with Jones.

How much are Rodgers and the receivers working on the side or in smaller groups to try to get their communication and timing down?
Brian Batko
2:48
OK, back to the show. They're doing that about as much as they can when they have downtime during special teams periods, that sort of deal. But that's not uncommon with any NFL team or past Steelers offenses. That's what they're at practice to do.

Who do you think will be the best Steelers OL this year?
Brian Batko
2:49
Ohh good question. I'll take the easy answer and say Zach Frazier.

Hey Brian.  For the first time in years, the offseason moves have made me very excited about the upcoming season.  Am I looking at this wrong?
Brian Batko
2:49
There's no accounting for taste, Marvin

BB! Love the chats and glad you are back.  Can you help me understand why anyone wastes a second evaluating an offensive lineman in shorts and a tshirt?  Are we that bored?  Aaron looked to be in great shape on Pat McAfee, you get the same sense on the field?  Great to see Danny being interviewed too.
Brian Batko
2:51
I hear you, but you can still assess stuff like lateral quickness and technique in that environment. But yes, boredom and urgency for news/nuggets/the whole nine yards is a factor, too. Rodgers is in good shape for sure. Gonna have to check out that Danny Smith interview.
Blame Tomlin
2:52
Everything is Tomlin's fault: inflation, climate change, road construction bottlenecks, etc.
Brian Batko
2:52
Don't forget the national deficit

Are you seeing any plays from CAIII?
Brian Batko
2:53
Yeah, he appears to have really honed the nuances of playing the position when it comes to technique. And from a pure speed/quickness standpoint, it's very difficult for corners to keep him in front of them.

Hi Bats, are you sending a different feel in camp this year? Championship teams aren't built overnight, does the team believe they can compete? It seems they beat the team they shouldn't and lose to the teams they should. I think they are so close! Thank you
Brian Batko
2:55
Eh, that's hard to pinpoint. It's easy to say yes but then I think back to last year. They had Russell Wilson and Justin Fields coming in here. Those are two pretty big names. And two years ago, there was a lot of optimism from fans for Kenny Pickett. So there really is excitement in the air every summer, I guess is what I'm saying.

Any international players on the Steelers roster? Thanks BB!
Brian Batko
2:58
Edge rusher Julius Welschof is German and he's exempt from a roster spot through the International Player Pathway Program. UDFA safety Sebastian Castro is from right outside Chicago but his grandparents came to the U.S. from Mexico. And of course the punters, Aussie Cam Johnston and Surinamese/Belgian Corliss Waitman.

Do you think the less than stellar last 5 drafts of the Colbert era are largely the reason they have middled for so long?
Brian Batko
2:59
Probably that and quarterback play, yeah, off the top of my head.

I was shocked by the language on the Pat McAfee show yesterday. I was also very disappointed by our fans' conduct in the crowd. The excess of foul language was overwhelming, especially on the campus of a faith-base university. Why did the Steelers sanction this event and do you believe this is something they may avoid in the future?
Brian Batko

The Steelers seemed to be eating it up. Obviously, some people are into the Pat McAfee experience while others could do without it.

OK folks, I've got to put a bow on it now. Chris Carter is sitting right in front of me in Latrobe and says he's chatting tomorrow, so be on the lookout for CC. Peace
