Brian,  Devin Bush is a nice piece to the D but not the complete answer.  D line and secondary are average at best coupled with defensive coordinator who should have been fired Steeler nation can only hope the offense can score and score often plus Boswell gets over the yips.  That is asking a lot.
Brian Batko
2:26
But what are you asking?
Glenn
2:27
Would this be a fair assessment of our O-line...above average at pass protecting and average at run blocking.  Also...average in the red zone???
Brian Batko
2:27
Fair enough

Hey Brian, of the 5-6 WR projected to make the roster, is there one who can stretch the field with his speed? Thanks
Brian Batko
2:28
That could be how they ultimately use Moncrief. JuJu isn't slow, but you also don't necessarily want to lessen his ability to work out of the slot. James Washington has shown to be a deep threat, too, though in college and a couple times here and there in the pros.

Hey Brian welcome to the PG Steelers coverage! Wish you only success.  What are your thougts on this season, do you think we have the tools to be in the SB (ultimately this is the steelers goal each year)?
Brian Batko
2:29
Well thank you, Sal. I do think they have those tools. But so do plenty of other teams. To me, there's enough parity in the NFL at this point that the Steelers could win the whole damn thing or miss the playoffs, depending on injuries, close games, etc. It's why it's a great league to cover.
Well, one of the reasons why.

Glad your on the team Brian. You're a fresh piece of meat for us rough Stiller fans-just kidding!!! What do you think will be the Steelers main theme this year?
Brian Batko
2:30
Thanks, Robbie. We're on a nice run of compliments here. I think the theme will be refocusing on the task at hand after a season filled with more off-field drama than on-field success.

Seeing how the PG still has articles on Antonio Brown almost daily, who really is the distraction for the Steelers?  Who cares what he posted on social media other than the media?  He is a nut, but will show up in Oakland and be better than anyone on Sundays when it matters.  Isn't that the point of his job, let him produce on Sundays?
Brian Batko
2:31
Sure, but what he does is still newsworthy. He'll be inextricably linked with the Steelers for the rest of his career, and I think a lot of fans still realize that and still care about what he's up to.

Brian, I always look forward to your chats. First time participating.  How do you think the Steelers will handle the wide receiver coach in light of the untimely passing of coach Drake
Brian Batko
2:32
As I said earlier, I think an internal solution is most likely. That's what the Vikings did last year when OL coach Tony Sparano passed away suddenly, and that was in late July, before camp.

Brian, I love the chat.

And I love you

please predict the chance of duck Hodges making the 53 man rooster? And Dobbs being traded.

I don't know

Hey Rookie... don't start getting a big head... what do you think about moving Timmons to OLB?  ha...
Brian Batko
2:33
Law Dog? I think he's hanging 'em up.

I actually thought the Snell looked goo. He ran hard between the tackles and did you see the play where he caught the ball out of the backfield and ran for 20 yards to get the first down?
Brian Batko
2:33
Yes, his hands have been better than expected so far, I think.

Any news on the Haden contract?
Brian Batko
2:34
Nope, but Tomlin reaffirmed today that his injury from last week doesn't seem too serious.
Paul
2:34
Any chance they contact Hines Ward about the coaching job?
Brian Batko
2:34
Don't believe so. I think he's made himself too much of an outsider to this franchise with some of his comments critical of the coach and QB in recent years.

Being a lifetime Steeler fan who is generally optimistic - I must say, this year has me more than excited, and confident we will make it to the top back with number 7/Lombardi...     I see no reason the team cannot excel in all categories!   With the poison brown pill long gone (career as well) and the greedy rapper wannabe ready to implode the jets and walk away, the Steelers and as healthy mentally and emotionally as thye have been in years. All all this talent and how could any Steeler fan not be confident in what this organization does, win Lombardi's!   My question is - why do you not see it?
Brian Batko
2:35
I can see it, but lots of other teams have talent and confidence too.

Rudolph and Dobbs equal preseason numbers except Rudolph drives for 3 scores.  Dobbs gets a nice run. Ben never had to rely on his running to get in the end zone although he stumbled in there, occasionally . Rudolph should be the #2 guy, hands down.

Real Steelers Fans (First Time AB Makes One Handed Catch between 3 Defenders): Oh. My. Forgot how good he is.
Brian Batko

Well, they won't have to deal with him on the field. With that, I've gotta finish up a couple other things and then head out to the practice field. If I didn't get to your question, perhaps I'll explore it in my weekly mailbag Thursday, or you can leave one in the comments. Hopefully you've signed up for our Skinny Post Steelers newsletter (https://t.co/NfEhqK8Wxn?amp=1), and our podcast, The North Shore Drive https://t.co/fMf96DDYpL?amp=1), and our upcoming fan meet-and-greet (https://t.co/mybTWHTxxK?amp=1.
